Episode #233, "Thanks For the Memories"
"That’s fucking great," she said, welcoming the rush of nicotine into her body. She glanced around the alley, seeing two men lying in the street. "Fucking bums. Always lying around the goddamn...wait a second. Is that...Matt?" She stepped forward and kicked one of the men on the ground. He opened his eyes and glanced up at her, still groggy. "Matthew Holden!" She shouted. "What the hell are you doing in this alley?" "Huh?" Matt asked, finally recognizing the woman. "Ariel? Ariel!" Matt coughed, struggling to stand up. "No one's heard from you in years...Not since you came back to Marquette Cove." "Huh?" Ariel asked, confused. "I haven't been in Marquette Cove forever. Are you okay? You look kind of gross." "I'm...I'm fine now," Matt said. "Or, I will be." "You need to get cleaned up," Ariel said. "Come inside." "Where are we?" Matt asked. "Some warehouse," Ariel replied. "I live here. Sort of." Ariel helped Matt to his feet and started to lead him toward the door. "What do you mean?" "Oh, sorry, I should explain," Ariel said, laughing. "I don't technically live here. I was kidnapped, I'm being held hostage."

Fun way to reintroduce Ariel. Too bad I never really had much for her to do in the series... but I also felt like I need to address the dangling "Ariel was kidnapped" plot thread that was introduced back in 2005. Anyway, there is a planned storyline coming up for Ariel that will actually signify her exit from the series. She's a vital part to the Hanley family at least, so I feel that if I'm going to get rid of her, she needs a proper send-off with a chance to return in case the story every calls for her reappearance. The same could be said for a few other characters on canvas, but... we'll find out who they are soon enough! |
