SEASON SIX RECAP
(2007 - 2008)

From #226 "It's Guasti Cose, Bitch" (October 14, 2007)
to #251 "Father Knows Best" (May 19, 2008)

Two years following the events of season five, Vincent Moore returned from boarding school to find that several things had changed in his absence -- his mother Leslie was now married to Michael Hanley, his sister Akilah began dating known drug dealer Morris Anderson. Vince, determined to stay out of trouble as he started his freshman year at Fordham Bay University, embraced the new changes in his life. He also arrived home in time for his grandfather-in-law, Kevin's, funeral where he and Akilah received news from their mother that Kevin Hanley was more than their grandfather-in-law, he was their actual grandfather! Vince and Akilah's father had been secretly adopted by Kevin years before in one of Kevin's attempts to keep his fortune out of his own offspring's hands. At the reading of Kevin's will, everyone was shocked to learn that Kevin's fortune had been left to Vince and Akilah.

Michael, however, was the exception. He wasn't surprised at all, in fact, he had known what was in the will because he'd orchestrated most of it. He planned to legally adopt Vince and Akilah in order to get his hands on their money. In order to keep the upper hand, he offered Leslie a promotion at Hanley Enterprises to keep her busy and had Mark Zane -- who was blackmailing Michael about his orchestration of the death of Leslie's husband -- poisoned. Mark had been serving a jail sentence for attempting to kill Vince by torching his house two years earlier, but now he had been left in a coma as a result of the poisoning.

Valerie, Kevin's daughter, was not only left with nothing like her siblings but she was also arrested at the will reading for arson. As part of his last will and testament, Kevin had evidence proving that Valerie previously burned down one of his buildings. As her trial loomed, Valerie blamed Michael for all of her legal problems and lashed out at him and his family, warning Leslie to watch her back. Michael also faced opposition from his son, Eric, who returned home from Europe to claim his stake in the family business.

As classes started for the fall, Akilah was estranged from her best friend, Julia, as a result of dating Julia's ex. Convinced that Morris was still dealing drugs, Julia went to get confirmation from Ricard, still serving a prison sentence for being implicit in Erin Maddock's murder. Ric revealed that Quentin Blood was far from dead, as everyone assumed, and that Morris was still working for him. Julia helped Akilah realize Morris' deception, but soon after Morris was murdered by Quentin. Julia stumbled across the murder and was told to keep quiet, so she was forced to lie to Morris' family about him skipping town.

Valerie Hanley-Holden

Schemer Valerie Hanley-Holden was arrested for torching her father's records building. She blamed her brother, Michael, and retaliated by badmouthing him to his new wife, Leslie.

Alec also began taking classes at FBU, while Jessica remained out of school in order to care for their newborn son, Phillip. Alec soon found himself unable to sleep at night — he was having recurring nightmares about an incident from his childhood, where he'd suffered abuse. Alec had long blocked those memories from his mind, so he was unable to remember who his abuser was. His desire to keep these nightmares to himself caused a rift between him and Jessica.

Melissa Bale

Melissa Bale was devastated to learn that Tyler was not her long-lost son.

Melissa also began having nightmares, only hers were about her past life as a prostitute. She kept having recurring dreams of sleeping with Victor Lopez, which she kept telling herself was a result of Valerie hiring a man to impersonate Victor and stalk her. As she talked to Aaron about it, she began to also have flashes of a child being taken from her years before. Aaron insisted that she was merely thinking about the child she'd miscarried four years ago, but Melissa became suspicious of Aaron and broke into his office. Listening to his recordings of their sessions, she was able to discover that he was lying to her. Aaron was being blackmailed by Hugh Rogers, Melissa's former pimp, so he would keep quiet about Melissa's son being alive and well with him in Atlantic City. Melissa headed to Atlantic City and confronted Hugh, demanding a maternity test to prove that Tyler was her son. Unfortunately, the test results came out negative and Hugh revealed that he'd been lying to Aaron in order to manipulate him and that Melissa did not have a child that was being kept from her. This news devastated Melissa.

As his wife was searching for answers, Robert began an affair with Gabrielle, his wedding planner. Robert's ex-wife Felicia discovered the affair and told Robert to stop cheating on Melissa so he wouldn't ruin his new marriage like he'd ruined theirs. Robert told Melissa to butt out of his business and when she considered telling Melissa, she too read Felicia the riot act for not minding her own business. Felicia decided that she'd had enough of being involved in Robert's affairs and decided to return to work, taking a position at Hanley Enterprises.

Robert's nephew, Darren, was also fed up with him. Now an attorney at Bale & Maddock, Darren was irritated by the constant homophobia his uncle displayed toward him. Robert didn't approve of Darren's homosexuality, nor did he approve of Darren dating HIV-positive Jack. Unfortunately for Darren, he had no idea that Jack was only pretending to be HIV-positive in order to help Chris Server break up Darren and Chris' former boyfriend, Blake. More committed to fighting for gay rights than ever, Darren took on a case to help a gay couple retain custody of one of the men's child. Robert threatened to fire Darren, but Darren called his bluff and retaliated by reminding Robert that he knew about his affair with Gabrielle and would tell Melissa if Robert continued to harass him.

As Thanksgiving began, Valerie's trial date finally arrived. She tried defending herself against the arson charges, but her family refused to lie on her behalf in court. Even worse, Valerie's missing husband Simon returned to town with the intent to testify against her and see her sent to prison. Simon said he would leave Valerie alone if she told him where their son Matt was, but Valerie continued to insist that Matt had run away from home because of his drug use. Simon testified against Valerie and she was sentenced to nine years in prison. After her incarceration, Simon continued to demand answers from Valerie, revealing to Felicia that the real reason she didn't want anyone knowing Matt's whereabouts was because Matt had discovered Simon wasn't his biological father — Melissa's brother, Kyle Maddock, was. Simon also revealed that Kyle was born out of an affair between Valerie's father and Melissa's mother, making Kyle her half-brother and Matt a product of incest. After Valerie broke down and admitted the truth, Felicia returned home to search through Valerie's records only to discover that she was keeping Matt locked away in a psychiatric hospital in London. Simon left immediately to find his son.

In London, before Simon could arrive Matt managed to escape from his padded cell only to accidentally drug himself and collapse in an alley. He awoke to find his cousin, Ariel, out for a smoke. She revealed to him that she'd been gone from boarding school for a couple of years, and that she'd initially been kidnapped by a man named Brock who wanted to hold her for ransom. She lied to Brock and convinced him she was at the school on scholarship, only to eventually fall for him. But Brock overheard a conversation between Matt and Ariel and realized that she was in fact filthy rich, so he tried to subdue them. Ariel knocked Brock unconscious and went with Matt back to the West End Psychiatric Facility in order to grab money he'd stashed to help with his escape. Upon arriving, they ran into Simon who convinced them to return home. Matt only agreed to return home, however, because he was already beginning to plan revenge on his mother.

While Valerie spent her Thanksgiving alone in prison, her family gathered at the Hanley mansion. Eric, an out homosexual, continued to come on to Vince, which prompted Michael to threaten him if he pulled anything like he did when Michael first sent him to boarding school. The Bales also gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving, only Jessica never made it to the dinner table. After another argument with Alec, he hit her in the face and she stormed out. The next day, Jack arrived home to find Jessica with bruises on her face. He started to put two and two together when Alec told him to stay out of their affairs and then promised Jessica he would never hit her again. Jessica wasn't ready to forgive Alec just yet, and instead took a job offer from Felicia in order to keep her mind on other things.

Alec Bale

Memories of childhood abuse caused Alec Bale to lash out and hit his wife, Jessica.

Felicia's hiring of Jessica and subsequent power plays at Hanley Enterprises began to irritate Leslie, particularly when Felicia accused Leslie of only marrying Michael in order to connect him with Sean's murder. Neither of them had any idea that Sean was not only very much alive, but now also knew about his former life. When some of his memories returned to him, he confronted his duplicitous brother Derek and killed him in self-defense. Sean tried returning to Marquette Cove to reclaim his life, but upon realizing that his wife was happily married to Michael, he chose to remain with his new wife Denise and son-in-law Nate. They moved to New York, where Sean planned to start his life over again.

Felicia went to Michael and told him about Leslie's mistrust of him, leading to a heated confrontation between Leslie and Felicia in Michael's office. Leslie shoved Felicia into a wall and left the office, only for Felicia to stumble across a secret passageway. A passageway that lead to an underground laboratory — where Michael had kept Sean prisoner after faking his death.

Valerie still managed to pull strings while in prison. Robert was summoned to see her in prison, where she blackmailed him by reminding Robert that he altered her father's will in order to cut Felicia out of an inheritance. Robert reluctantly agreed to work on her appeal. A smug Val was later visited by Matt, returned from London, who insisted he had no hard feelings, only to use some blackmail of his own to keep his mother's lawyer from getting her out of prison on a technicality. Unfortunately for Matt, Simon told Matt that he was going to leave Marquette Cove as soon as he divorces Valerie. In order to stop his father from meeting with a divorce attorney, Matt drugged his coffee. The drug Matt slipped in his father's coffee acted quickly, knocking Simon out. However Simon's lawyer called to cancel their meeting, making Matt's actions pointless. He woke his father up after briefly thinking he may have accidentally killed him. When Simon awoke, he found evidence proving that Matt drugged him. An opportunity to get his job back revealed itself to Simon when Dr. Aaron Li died of a heart attack in the hospital. Simon took the job and chose to remain in Marquette Cove, under the condition that Matt undergo continuous therapy to sort out his life.

Michael, Leslie, and the kids took off for a vacation in New York, leaving Felicia time to sneak into mansion and investigate Michael's secret lab. When Robert arrived at the Hanley Mansion to speak with Michael about becoming Valerie's lawyer, he found Felicia breaking in. He followed her into the secret lab, where she filled him in on what she'd discovered. When they tried to leave, however, Robert and Felicia realized they were locked in.

Vincent Moore

Vincent Moore was stunned when he believed Michael was responsible for killing his father, which turned to anger when he realized his father was still alive.

Meanwhile in New York, Sean took Denise ice skating in Bryant Park, where he was shocked to find his former family there as well. Leslie caught a glimpse of Sean but thought she was imagining things. As Akilah took her home, Vince started to blame himself for Sean's death and his mother's current state. Michael tried consoling him but an accidental slip of the tongue revealed that Michael knew Sean was going to die, and that Derek was going to kill him. Before he could further interrogate Michael, Vince saw his father and chased him into a New York subway station. Sean recognized Vince, but instead chose to ignore his son's cries and boarded a train. Michael raced back to the hotel to make sure Vince hadn't spilled his secret. Vince instead demanded that Michael take him to see his father, until Michael spun a lie about Sean knowing Derek was going to kill him. Michael told Vince that he helped Sean fake his death so that he could leave Leslie and his kids and start a new life with a woman he was seeing on the side, Denise Price. Vince was heartbroken, but believed Michael.

Alec continued his affair with Farrah at his apartment, narrowly getting her out before Jessica could find them. But Jessica found an expensive bra in her bedroom and realized that Alec was cheating on her. When Jack arrived home, he confronted Jessica about why she was crying and deduced that Alec was not only cheating on her but abusing her as well. Jessica took off to find Alec and confront him at Farrah's apartment. He snapped and attacked Jessica, badly beating her and sending her to the hospital.

Aaron testified as a witness in Darren's court case, and was dismayed to find Darren sharing a hug with Blake. He became concerned about Darren stealing Blake back from him, while Jack began to worry about Darren slipping through his fingers. But he resolved to tell Darren about Alec abusing Jessica, and when he went to see Darren after the trial, his worst fears were confirmed. He found Darren and Blake having sex in Darren's office, they'd finally given into their feelings for one another. Jack reacted violently and a fight with Blake ensued where they both crashed through a set of glass doors in the office and had to be taken to the hospital.

Jack, Blake, and Jessica ended up in comas on the same night and Alec forced Farrah to lie to protect him from going to jail. Alec told Darren, Melissa, and Natalie that he found Jessica attacked when he got home, but Darren wasn't sure if he believed him. Chris found Damon Johnson's ghost in Blake's room, ready to kill him. He stopped Damon from killing Blake by admitting that he was still in love with Blake, regardless of Blake's role in Damon's death. Soon after, Chris found himself with another crisis when he overheard Dr. Anderson discussing a blood transfusion to save Blake's life. Unfortunately, the blood would need to come from Jack, and if that happened, his plans to break up Blake and Darren by pretending Jack is HIV-positive would be ruined.

Jack awoke and Darren apologized to him for sleeping with Blake. Dr. Anderson announced that he wanted to save Blake's life with a blood transfusion, which put a kink into Chris and Jack's scheme. Chris tried keeping Jack quiet, but Jack went with his conscience and revealed everything to Darren. Fortunately for Chris, Jack didn't reveal Chris' part in the deception. Dr. Anderson began the blood transfusion to save Blake while Jack then admitted that Alec had been abusing Jessica. When Alec showed back up at the hospital, he was arrested.

Darren Reynolds

Darren Reynolds sacrificed his relationship with Blake when his ex-boyfriend arrived in town and claimed he was HIV-positive. Unfortunately for Darren, it was only one of Chris' sick schemes.

Back in the secret lab, Robert's claustrophobia kicked in and he passed out. When he finally awoke, he and Felicia reminisced about their past and ended having sex. Michael and his family returned home. Michael discovered that Felicia and Robert were trapped in his secret lab. He found evidence that Robert and Felicia slept together while trapped in the lab and tried using the information to blackmail them into silence. Their stand-off was cut short when they found out about Alec and Darren being at the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, Robert and Felicia discovered Alec's arrest. Jessica woke up and lied that Alec didn't attack her, upsetting Vince but pleasing Robert. Alec was roughed up in prison, but Robert and Felicia quickly bailed him out.

Valerie's lies began to unravel when Aaron listened to one of his tape recordings and overheard Valerie at the end of it. He played the end of the recording for Melissa, revealing that Valerie was the one who caused Melissa's miscarriage and not Felicia. When Felicia, Michael, and Robert finally arrived at the hospital, Melissa revealed that Valerie was the one behind her miscarriage, not Felicia as everyone assumed. Felicia confronted Valerie in prison and told her she was done having Valerie in her life.

Blake finally awoke and kissed Vince, thinking he was Darren. But the real surprise was when Vince returned the kiss himself. He became flustered after kissing Blake and tracked down Julia to plant a kiss on her. He asked her to go out on a date with him, but she turned him down when she had a flash of her confrontation with Quentin Blood. Jack apologized to Blake for hurting him, and Blake thanked him for saving his life. Darren told Blake he's still in love with him, but Blake didn't want to get back together, insisting that nothing had really changed in Darren's reasons for initially breaking up with him. Darren was also less than pleased when Eric, whom he had no idea was back in town, showed up at the hospital to hover around him. He rebuffed Eric, which caused Eric to join forces with Aaron in an attempt to keep Blake and Darren apart.

Kelli Anderson

After a tumultuous relationship with Vince, nearly dying from a gunshot wound, and losing her brother, Kelli Anderson departed Marquette Cove.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Li arrived at the hospital following her husband's heart attack. After taking a seat on the hospital board Aaron wanted, she seduced him and had sex with him in her husband's former office. She went home to inform her son that they were getting closer to everything they wanted, only to be paid a visited by a mysterious stranger, dressed immaculately in white...

Kelli and Sara said goodbye to Marquette Cove as they left to study abroad in South Africa. At Kelli's send-off party, Chris found himself continuously haunted by Damon's ghost. Chris tried to spark his relationship with Blake again, but Blake figured out that Chris was the one who helped Jack switch his HIV results and told Chris to stay out of his life for good. A drunk Alec showed up and made everyone uncomfortable when he verbally attacked Vince and Jessica, prompting her to get a restraining order against him. Blake tried to see if Vince was interested in dating him, but found that Vince was still confused about his sexuality. Eric surprised Blake by running into him in Emerald Square and asking him out on a date.

Leslie was plagued by visions of her past, where she tried to hide her second pregnancy from Sean. Unfortunately, her sister Yolanda figured it out. In the present, Leslie tried planning a birthday dinner to honor Sean, but neither Vince or Akilah were incredibly interested. Vince stormed out of the dinner while Akilah shared her plans to audition for The Blackthornes. Leslie flipped out and forbade Akilah from auditioning. Sean was haunted by memories of his past as well. He showed up in Marquette Cove on Michael's doorstep, demanding that his memories be erased for good. Sean remained hidden in the Hanley mansion, unbeknown to his family members. Michael and Victor drained the power from Marquette Cove in order to finish wiping Sean's memories.

Melissa had memories of the past as well, remembering a pregnancy she had in the '80s where Hugh planned to take her child from her. The mysterious Man in White began to stalk Robert (filming his sexual encounters with his mistress, Gabrielle) Melissa and leave her cryptic messages about her missing child. During the power outage, Melissa prepared for a romantic evening with Robert, but Alec interrupted looking for Jessica. An argument ensued until Melissa pulled a gun on Alec to protect herself. Alec broke down in tears and begged Melissa to end his life, prompting her to realize he needed professional help.

Jack moved out of Darren's apartment. Chris finally found positive test results that revealed who Quentin Blood's daughter is. Chris tried leaving the hospital with the DNA test for Quentin's daughter, but Jack confronted him about ruining his life. Damon's ghost showed up again and pushed Jack down the stairs, killing him. As Leslie remembered a conversation with her sister where she admitted she was raped and that Akilah might not be her daughter, Chris presented Quentin with evidence proving Akilah was his daughter. The same night, Akilah was kidnapped by an unknown assailant.

Melissa took Alec to the hospital to see Aaron, in the hopes of helping him through therapy. She received another cryptic phone call at the hospital and enlisted Joel's help to trace the call. He traced it to a nurse at the hospital, and Dr. Anderson confirmed that the nurse was supposed to transfer to the hospital but never did. They searched the nurse's locker and discovered a DNA test with evidence that Melissa's missing child was Alexis Lopez.

Akilah Moore

Akilah Moore...is she really Quentin Blood's daughter? And if so, is he the one responsible for her disappearance?

Leslie feared she might be pregnant, so she purchased a pregnancy test and brought it back to the mansion. When she received the results and went to talk to Michael, she was stunned to find Sean in their living room...he hadn't been dead for six years like everyone assumed. She was even more surprised, however, when Sean kissed Michael and claimed that he was Elizabeth Hanley -- Michael's deceased wife.

During his therapy session, Alec finally uncovered the memories of his childhood sexual abuse. He recognized his father as the man that abused him, prompting Alec to rush home to protect his son. Joel and Melissa followed after Aaron warned them, only to find a frantic Alec in possession of Melissa's gun. Robert showed up and Alec threatened to kill him. Jessica and Vince were equally shocked when they showed up with her and Alec's son. After a heated confrontation with Robert, Alec pulled the trigger on the gun and shot someone in the house...possibly killing them.
