PHILLIPS HOME

Alexis Lopez Alexis slammed her fists against Ryan's door; finally realizing that no one was going to answer it. The limo wasn't even outside; so that meant they were both gone. They had left for the airport, and Ryan was quickly slipping out of Alexis' grasp.

"No!" Alexis cried, through tears. "I won't let you have Ryan! I won't let you have Ryan!"

"Alexis, I need to ask you something," Ryan said.

"Go ahead," Alexis allowed.

"Are you…are you sure I'm the father of your child?" He whispered.

Alexis looked disgusted.

"Of course I'm sure," Alexis snapped. "How could you even ask me that question?"

"Well, given your track record…"

"You slept with me, Ryan," Alexis said, raising her voice slightly.

Ryan raised his hand to Alexis's mouth to keep her quiet, but she brushed his hand away and glared at him angrily.

"I'm — I'm sorry," Ryan apologized. "But there's one more thing I need to ask you. No…It's something I'm telling you."

Alexis folded her arms. "I'm all ears."

"You have to get an abortion, Alexis," Ryan said. "You can not have this child, do you hear me?"

Alexis took a deep breath as more memories began to flood back to her. Once she was able to regain her composure, Alexis realized what she had to do.

"So that's the reason why he wanted me to get an abortion," Alexis decided. "So he can get married to that bitch Vanessa and run off with her!"

Alexis rested her palm against her stomach, hoping to feel her child kick. She felt a little shove and smiled, knowing that it was now up to her to protect her child and make sure Ryan realized the error of his ways.

"I have to find Ryan and keep him from sleeping with another woman," Alexis cried, narrowing her eyes. "I won't allow him to do that…not while I'm carrying his child."

Always one to escalate things even further, I wondered how I could keep this Alexis drama unfolding. I considered having her get her full memory back and hiding it from everyone so she could avoid being prosecuted for what happened to Allison, but then I never really thought of her as diabolical and calculating, like a Michael. She's screwed up, has got some serious emotional issues stemming from childhood abuse and the ringer that Ryan put her through. But I never wanted her to be scheming back then at least, because doing that while knowing she'd killed Allison might make her unsympathetic to the audience. Of course, Blake is now one of the more popular characters in GC and he's killed someone. So I'm hoping to do a lot more with Alexis' character (along with Ryan and Vanessa) that I was able to do when I was only 17. The series as of the past two years has turned into a great balance of the series' traditional stories with more character-based stuff, and aside from stuff like "asteroid" everything is now driven by the characters instead of heavily by plot like when I first started writing. So I have high hopes for this year's return to the Alexis/Ryan/Vanessa triangle, and I hope the audience enjoys the ride!
