JESSICA: Hello? Stephanie Collins is on the other end. STEPHANIE: Hey girlfriend. JESSICA: Stephanie! What's up? STEPHANIE: Calling to see how you are going into your senior year. JESSICA: [Laughing] Um, wishing it were already over? STEPHANIE: I figured. JESSICA: So, what classes do you have? Maybe we have Calc together? STEPHANIE: Um, actually...that's why I'm calling. I sort of changed my mind. JESSICA: What? STEPHANIE: I'm not coming back to Marquette Cove. JESSICA: You're not...you're not back?
STEPHANIE: No, I'm still in Paris. And I'm not coming back.
AKILAH: Oh. I really wish you'd reconsider. TIM: Well, it's not really my decision. My brother is the one who relocated, and you know, our family sticks together. AKILAH: Yeah. I wonder what that's like. TIM: But I just wanted to call and wish you luck on the first day of your junior year. AKILAH: Ditto. Except for you being a senior, and all. TIM: Yeah, well classes have already started here in Milwaukee. AKILAH: So you've had a week of hell already, huh? TIM: Pretty much. AKILAH: So, how's the romance department going? Wooed any girls lately? TIM: Not so much. [Laughs] I'm all about my schoolwork. AKILAH: I'll bet. TIM: And you? AKILAH: [Beat] Um...nope. Nothing at all. I really miss you, Tim. TIM: I miss you too. I'll try and visit the first chance I get, okay? AKILAH: All right. TIM: Talk to you later. AKILAH: Bye. Akilah hangs up the phone and sighs.
AKILAH: Yeah, there's no one...except for that little thing with Alec. Whatever that is.
MATT: Ah, the benefits of coming to school early. CHRIS: I hate first days. MATT: People just hate them when their lives have gone to hell, that's all. Matt opens a window and covers his mouth as he starts coughing. MATT: You won't be walking around school holding hands with your little boyfriend this year. CHRIS: Blake and I never held hands. MATT: Maybe that was the problem then. That and you getting Kelli shot and everything. CHRIS: Yeah. Let's keep bringing that up. MATT: Whatever, man. Love is for losers. CHRIS: Thanks, Matt. You're always so helpful. MATT: I do what I can. Scott Hart enters. SCOTT: Hey...what's going on? MATT: What are you doing here? CHRIS: Scott and I have business to take care of. MATT: Ah. That old job of mine. Have fun, boys. Matt exits. SCOTT: Business? I didn't come here to buy anything. CHRIS: I know that.
Chris walks to the bathroom door and locks it. He pulls Scott closer and kisses him.
DARREN: Have fun at school, kids. BLAKE: Shut up, Darren. DARREN: [Laughs] You know, Alec, I still can't believe your parents never bought you a car. ALEC: I guess they were too busy trying to be Hanleys or having affairs. BLAKE: Mood effectively ruined. ALEC: Sorry, man. I mean, whatever. I'll probably get a car from one of them out of the divorce to make me feel better. I'm banking on dear old dad. DARREN: Speaking of Mr. Bale himself, I've got to be running to work, so the two of you have to get a move on it. BLAKE: All right. Bye. Blake kisses Darren before climbing out of the car. ALEC: Um, air kiss?
DARREN: [Laughs] Goodbye, Alec.
VINCE: Look, I already told you that I wasn't waiting for you. AKILAH: You are such a bastard, Vince. VINCE: You're always late! I'll send the limo back to pick you up, but I'm already at school. AKILAH: I'll just walk. VINCE: You are not going to walk. I'm sending the limo to pick you up, so stop whining. Vince hangs up. He climbs out of the limo and closes the door. As the driver pulls off, Vince notices another limo pull up at the school. VINCE: Huh? I thought Matt had a car. The limo stops and the door opens. Mark Zane steps out of the limo wearing a dark pair of sunglasses. VINCE: What?! What in the hell is going on here? Mark closes the door and waves off his driver before heading toward the school. He smirks as he passes Vince. MARK: Morning, my black friend. Mark exits. VINCE: I think I'm going to need to kick his ass. executive producer |
