Emerald Hills

Hallway. Darren Reynolds exits an elevator with Alec Bale.

DARREN: I tell you, being in love? It's the greatest thing in the world.

ALEC: Yeah yeah, it's a many splendored thing.

DARREN: Blake and I had sex again last night. And then this morning, and -

ALEC: Darren. While I am perfectly cool with you having the gay sex, I really don't need a play by play.

DARREN: Oh. Sorry. It's just that I never really got to talk about this stuff with anyone else before.

ALEC: And now we're like brothers. Great. Even greater is the fact that Sara agreed to live with my mom, which means we get an awesome pad all to ourselves.

DARREN: I still don't know how you found a place so fast.

ALEC: Well, it turns out that my father's mistress is giving her old place to her cousin, Dr. Maddock. Which means that his penthouse is now on the market. And we can totally afford it.

DARREN: I can barely afford it.

ALEC: That's what my guilty parents are for, Darren. And your absentee parents. They can toss money our way to make us feel better. [Beat] And it will work!

DARREN: You are so tacky. You know that?

ALEC: Hey. Tacky is the new black.

Darren and Alec approach the door to Aaron Maddock's penthouse. The door is open and they walk inside, finding Aaron on the telephone.

AARON: Take a look around, I'll be with you in a minute.

ALEC: [Grinning] Hot.

Anderson Home

Kitchen. Morris Anderson enters and opens the fridge. As he reaches in the back for a soda, Vincent Moore enters from the back door. Morris closes the fridge and is startled by Vince.

MORRIS: Whoa. What the hell are you doing here? How did you get in here?

VINCE: The door was unlocked. That's not important.

MORRIS: Kelli isn't here, okay? She's out with Blake.

VINCE: I didn't come to see Kelli, I came to talk to you.

MORRIS: And what do you want with me?

VINCE: To warn you to stay away from Julia. I heard about your drug bust.

MORRIS: Excuse me? I could have sworn somebody had just waltzed their ass into my kitchen and told me what do with my business.

VINCE: Yeah, I did.

MORRIS: Never mind the fact that this bitch here got busted on possession not too long ago? I seem to remember Kelli telling me about you getting kicked off the varsity basketball team?

VINCE: Junior varsity. Sophomores aren't on the varsity team.

MORRIS: What the hell ever.

VINCE: Julia is a friend of mine. And I'm worried about her.

MORRIS: No, you're jealous. You need everybody in your life to only pay attention to your needs, while you run around doing whatever the hell you want. [Beat] I've got your number, Vince. I know how you treated my sister while you were running around after that Reyes girl.

VINCE: Just remember what I said, all right?

MORRIS: Don't make me knock you into next week. Get out of my house.

VINCE: Gladly.

Vince exits.

Simon Price's Apartment
Fordham, IL

Living Room. Simon Price enters from the kitchen, sitting down on the couch next to Denise Robertson.

DENISE: Lunch was great, Simon. Thank you.

SIMON: Well, who knew that Chipotle delivered these days?

Denise laughs.

DENISE: Hmm, I knew it tasted familiar.

SIMON: Sorry.

DENISE: It's fine.

Denise leans forward and kisses Simon.

SIMON: What was that for?

DENISE: No reason.

Simon kisses Denise.

DENISE: And that?

SIMON: Because you're an incredible woman.

They continue to kiss. Denise begins unbuttoning Simon's shirt.

SIMON: Don't you have to get back to work?

DENISE: Just go with it, honey.

Simon removes his shirt and lies back on the couch, pulling Denise closer to him.

Atmosphere

Bar. Robert Bale takes a sip from his vodka tonic, as a woman, Gabrielle Mora sits down next to him at the bar.

GABRIELLE: Is this seat taken?

ROBERT: Nope. Not taken.

GABRIELLE: Great. [Beat] You here alone?

ROBERT: Listen, lady, I'm not looking to pay for a great time.

GABRIELLE: [Laughs] Do you think I'm a hooker?

ROBERT: Well, if the "is this seat taken" fits.

GABRIELLE: I'm not.

ROBERT: Then what are you doing talking to me?

GABRIELLE: You look upset. And I was feeling...well, not perfectly complacent. And I was thinking, if you were here in the middle of the day drinking, then you were look to...feel complacent?

ROBERT: Complacent is usually a dangerous state of mind. You never know what's coming next, you're just happy. In the now.

GABRIELLE: What can I say? This lady likes danger.

ROBERT: I don't.

GABRIELLE: Enough said.

Gabrielle stands and begins walking away, but Robert touches her arm.

ROBERT: Buy you a drink?

GABRIELLE: How about we just skip the pleasantries?

Gabrielle takes Robert by his hand and leads him out of the bar.
