Marquette Cove Police Department

Office. Joel Kincaid removes a sheet of paper from his printer and hands it to Valerie Hanley-Holden.

VALERIE: Thank you so much for doing this.

JOEL: It was no problem, really. We've got an extensive file on Hugh Rogers anyway.

VALERIE: That's good to know.

Valerie begins reading.

VALERIE: He had an operation in Marquette Cove in the eighties, before he came to town last year?

JOEL: Um, yes? I'm not intimately familiar with his case file.

Joel takes a seat at his desk.

VALERIE: These all seem to be public records.

JOEL: Well, I can't exactly give you access to sealed records, can I?

VALERIE: I guess not.

JOEL: Though I do appreciate the fact that you asked me for these records instead of using one of the beat cops probably on your brother's payroll at the moment. You probably could have had better records stolen.

VALERIE: I'll see where this takes me first...oh, this is interesting.

JOEL: Huh?

VALERIE: There were some arrests made. One of them a repeat offender...a Victor Lopez? He seems like a big name in these. Like this one from 1982.

JOEL: Victor Lopez? That's gonna be a dead end.

VALERIE: Dead end? You know him?

JOEL: Yeah. Dead end, literally. He was killed a couple years ago.

VALERIE: Damn. Mind if I take these? I have to get to the office for a meeting.

JOEL: Go ahead.

Valerie sticks the papers into her purse and heads for the door.

VALERIE: Thanks again, Joel.

Valerie exits.

Marquette Cove Courthouse

Court Room. Michael Hanley approaches Felicia Bale, extending his hand to her.

MICHAEL: This entire hearing was preposterous.

FELICIA: Don't worry about it, it's over. At least I still have Alec.

MICHAEL: And me as well. And the rest of your family.

FELICIA: Well, it's a good thing I have family now, because I don't exactly have a home.

MICHAEL: No. You're moving in with me at the mansion, obviously.

FELICIA: Michael.

MICHAEL: You're my sister, Felicia.

FELICIA: Given our history, however, I think I'd be wise to take up Valerie on her offer. Or rather, her command.

Felicia removes her phone from her purse.

FELICIA: She left me a voicemail message telling me that I'm moving in with her. And also that Robert can go to hell.

ROBERT: That's mature.

Felicia and Michael turn to find Robert standing behind them, with Melissa Maddock.

MICHAEL: Leave her alone.

ROBERT: She's my wife, Michael. Or have you forgotten?

MICHAEL: Ex-wife.

ROBERT: Not official yet. And not even. An annulment will make it so our marriage was never official. So, it's like we were never married.

FELICIA: Perfect. I only wish it were as if I'd never met you.

ROBERT: [Beat] You don't mean that.

FELICIA: Yes, I do.

MELISSA: Robert, we should get going.

ROBERT: Yeah. Sure.

Melissa and Robert exit. Felicia hugs Michael.

FELICIA: Thank you for everything, Michael. It just wasn't enough.

MICHAEL: Don't be silly, Felicia. Do you honestly believe that this is all over? [Beat] I haven't even begun with Robert Bale. I promise you that.

Denise Robertson's Apartment
Fordham, IL

Living Room. Denise Robertson finishes applying make-up in the hallway mirror, as there is a knock at the door.

DENISE: Just a minute!

Denise hurries into the bathroom and puts away her make-up. She quickly spritzes herself with perfume and then returns to the living room to open the door. Simon Price is standing in the hall.

SIMON: Denise...you look great.

DENISE: Of course I do. That's why you asked me out, isn't it?

SIMON: You know? You're right.

DENISE: I thought so. Come in, let me finish getting ready.

SIMON: Not even ready yet. There goes a point.

Simon enters.

DENISE: I'm on a point system now?

SIMON: Aw, damn. I wasn't supposed to tell you about that.

DENISE: Well, the secret's out, mister.

Simon closes the door and Denise kisses him.

DENISE: Now that that's out of the way, I'm going to get my purse. Help yourself to a drink.

SIMON: Cool.

Denise exits.

Marquette Cove Courthouse

Lobby. Ricard Branch enters from the court room, holding hands with Sara Reynolds. Alec Bale starts to follow them, but Darren Reynolds grabs his arm.

DARREN: Dude, worry about your parents right now, okay?

ALEC: I hate my parents. They can deal with all of this shit by themselves. It's not like they didn't bring it on themselves.

SARA: Alec, don't be a jerk.

ALEC: I guess since you're dating one, you don't want a second one hanging around, right?

SARA: [Sarcastically] Right.

RIC: Alec, no one's interested in listening to you whine right now. I'm going to take Sara home.

SARA: Can we hang around, actually? I want to talk to my Aunt Felicia before we leave.

RIC: Sure.

SARA: I'll go back in and talk to her, I don't know how long she'll be in there.

Sara exits, passing Blake Thomas as she does.

BLAKE: What's going on out here?

RIC: The Alec and Darren Variety Hour.

BLAKE: Alec. Let's take a walk.

He grabs Alec's arm and drags him away.

DARREN: [Smiling] I knew there was a reason I liked him.

RIC: Because he can wrangle your cousin? I figured you'd have liked him for something more pertinent. Like his ruler size.

Darren rolls his eyes. At the end of the hallway, in the shadows, Quentin Blood watches them with a frown on his face.

QUENTIN: Ric...I think I'm going to allow you to leave. [Mockingly] I'll grant you your wish. [Beat] But not without a big send-off.
