BLAKE: Hey, Kelli, I got your message, but you're not answering your phone now. I'm back at my house, but I'll just head back home in a bit and see you when I get there, okay? Later. Blake hangs up the phone. BLAKE: I've got to quit coming here...I can't keep doing this. Blake starts to leave. VINCE: Blake. Blake turns around to see Vincent Moore emerge from the kitchen. BLAKE: Vince! What are you doing here? VINCE: I'm afraid I have bad news, Blake. BLAKE: What are you talking about? What's going on? Vince removes a folded note from his jacket pocket and hands it to Blake. Blake slowly takes the note. BLAKE: [Reading] "Dear Blake, I don't really know where to begin, but here goes..." This is my brother's handwriting. VINCE: Yeah, Thomas wrote it. Blake continues reading. BLAKE: He...he woke up! That's the most amazing...no. No. When did he...no! VINCE: Blake, I'm sorry. Blake throws the note onto the floor.
BLAKE: Where is my brother, Vince? Tell me where my brother is!
MELISSA Honey, I thought you had work to do. ROBERT: Did I? MELISSA That's what you...never mind. ROBERT: How was your check-up? MELISSA I had to reschedule it, Dr. Bradley got called away on an emergency. ROBERT: Oh. MELISSA But there's something I need to talk to you about. ROBERT: What's that? MELISSA Our wedding. Melissa sits down next to Robert. ROBERT: The biggest event in 2007, that's for sure. MELISSA Or...2006? ROBERT: What? MELISSA Well, I ran into Felicia at the hospital, and she was being rude, as usual, and I accidentally blurted out that our wedding is going to be in December. ROBERT: Well, that was stupid. MELISSA I know! I know, I know. But...what do you think? ROBERT: I already told you that it was... MELISSA No, what do you think about moving our wedding up? ROBERT: Oh. That. [Beat] No. MELISSA Robert! ROBERT: No, Melissa. It's not up for discussion. MELISSA Fine. Then don't expect me to be up for anything tonight. Melissa exits.
ROBERT: Well, that's not fair at all.
MICHAEL: Well, this changes everything. MARK: Yeah. It does. I'm sure things would get shaken up even more if Vince found out that his dad is still alive, you know what I'm saying? MICHAEL: Yes, I can understand you. Stop asking me that. MARK: Not that I'm in a rush to tell him anything, really. I hate that smug son of a bitch. MICHAEL: That's enough of you badmouthing Vince. MARK: No, it's not. You see, I'm the one who's calling the shots now. MICHAEL: What is it you want? MARK: Money.
MICHAEL: Of course. That's what they always want...
MORRIS: Sorry I had to run, sis. [Beat] No, I'm grateful for you unlocking the door for me. [Beat] I'll be home soon, okay? All right, then. Morris hangs up the phone. He walks toward Randy, who is leaning against a tree. MORRIS: Hey. RANDY: Hey, baby. You Morris? MORRIS: Yeah. You the guy that Chris hooked me up with? RANDY: Yeah, baby. You got the money? MORRIS: Where's the product? RANDY: Cash first, baby. MORRIS: Um...okay. Morris removes cash from his back pocket and hands it to Randy. MORRIS: All right. Randy reaches into his jacket and removes a pair of handcuffs. MORRIS: Whoa...I don't know what you're looking for here, especially with all of those baby, baby, babies, but...I was just looking to get - RANDY: Arrested? MORRIS: What?
RANDY: Baby, you have the right to remain silent.
ALEC: I should have known. JESSICA: Alec, wait. ALEC: Did you borrow my Sara's phone to send me a text message about meeting you in the park? JESSICA: I just thought we should talk. ALEC: Jessica! We had sex, Christ, it's not like we signed a blood pact. JESSICA: Look, I know things didn't work out between us before, but things are different now. We're both older, we're entering our senior year. I thought we could - ALEC: What do I have to do to get through to you, Jessica? JESSICA: Listen, I just - Akilah Moore enters, dressed in running shorts and a tank top. She turns off her iPod and stops. AKILAH: What are you two doing out here? JESSICA: Having a private conversation. AKILAH: All right, then. I'm out. Akilah starts to exit. ALEC: Akilah, wait. AKILAH: No, I think I've got in the middle of you two and your issues enough in the past. I'm trying to live insanity free these days. Alec walks closer to Akilah and kisses her. JESSICA: [Angrily] All right, Alec. You've proved your damn point. Jessica abruptly exits. Alec stops kissing Akilah. ALEC: Thanks, Akilah. AKILAH: Um...sure?
Alec exits.
BLAKE: This is not happening. VINCE: I am so sorry, Blake. I tried to stop him, but I couldn't. You know how your brother was when his mind was made up. BLAKE: He can't have gone far, right? We can still track him down! VINCE: I have no idea where he went, Blake. And if he got on the El, then...he could be anywhere by now. BLAKE: Dammit! This isn't fair! After everything I did to get my brother back, this is not fair. VINCE: Look, I...I know we're not exactly great friends, but we've been through a lot together. And I just want you to know that I'm here for you. Through all of this. I know what it's like to get someone back in your life, only to lose them again. BLAKE: I can't lose him, Vince. I need Thomas. I need him. VINCE: Blake, you've been doing great on your own for years now. BLAKE: I...no I haven't. I've been miserable. VINCE: You have? BLAKE: I've felt like I wanted to kill myself, Vince. VINCE: Then why didn't you talk to anyone? Even Chris...when you two were together. BLAKE: I wasn't all together happy. There are too many things I had to hide...to many things I had to keep to myself. VINCE: Well, I hope you know you can trust me. And whenever you're ready to talk about whatever those things are? I'll be here. Vince gives Blake a hug. VINCE: All right? I'll be here. executive producer |
