DARREN: Whoa...that was a...that was a kiss. BLAKE: Yes, it was. I hope I didn't read into - DARREN: No, you didn't read into anything wrong. That was a good kiss. I liked it. BLAKE: Really? DARREN: Um...yeah, I did. In fact, in kind of makes me want...another one... Darren leans in and kisses Blake. On the other side of the room, Melissa Maddock walks over to Robert Bale, carrying a drink. ROBERT: What in the hell is Darren doing? MELISSA Kissing Blake Thomas, it seems. ROBERT: But Darren isn't...he isn't... MELISSA Gay? It looks like he is. ROBERT: This is...this is...I need to get that videotape. MELISSA They're not going to broadcast Darren and Blake on the five o'clock news, Robert. ROBERT: No, I want that tape of Felicia making a fool of herself. MELISSA Robert, just leave well enough alone. ROBERT: Melissa, my wife, the woman you're being so defensive of, is the woman that cost us our child. MELISSA I know that, but...we're getting married. I want to worry about my wedding dress, not a new rivalry with Felicia. ROBERT: Then don't. And let me worry about it. Chris Server angrily shoves a piece of cake into his mouth, while Kelli Anderson smiles. Sara Reynoldsjoins them, with Alec Bale and Jessica Reyes. SARA: Darren never told me he was gay. ALEC: Well, now's a fine time to tell everyone. People in this family just love to make scenes, don't they? KELLI: You'd know, wouldn't you? ALEC: Shut up, Kelli. CHRIS: Whatever. I need some air. Chris abruptly exits. Jessica runs her fingers across Alec's neck. JESSICA: Let's go somewhere and talk. ALEC: Jessica, I don't - JESSICA: Don't argue.
Jessica drags Alec out of the room.
Fordham, IL SIMON: Denise. DENISE: Simon... William asked me to stop by, he said you two were having a get-together. SIMON: Oh. William, he just left...I think he went to get some more beer. Why don't you come on in? DENISE: I'd love to. Thanks. Denise enters. SIMON: You know, I've been meaning to ask you something...it might seem kind of forward, but... DENISE: Yes, I'll go out with you. SIMON: What? DENISE: I didn't know if you'd do it or not, so I just said yes ahead of time. SIMON: Uh...all right, then. Then, it's a date.
DENISE: Great. Okay, now you have to really ask me. Because that's just not going to work for me.
VINCE: Jesus, it's cold out there. I thought it was supposed to be summer. KELLI: Well, it is night. And we're on the lake. VINCE: Whatever. What's been going on in here? KELLI: Everyone's dying of boredom because you weren't here entertaining them. VINCE: Oh, really? KELLI: No. Kelli exits. VINCE: Jesus...was she always a bitch while we were dating? Valerie Hanley-Holden pours herself a drink as Melissa walks past the punch bowl. VALERIE: Melissa, how's it going? Do tell. MELISSA What do you want, Valerie? VALERIE: I'm making conversation. MELISSA Really? You making conversation with me? When's the last time that happened, when you were dating my brother, Kyle? VALERIE: Tell me, Melissa, when's the baby due? Everyone's just dying to know when that little baby of yours is going to pop out. Do you know if it's a boy or a girl? MELISSA You know what, Valerie? The word bitch is much too nice for you. Melissa exits. VALERIE: If you need a ride to the hospital, just let me know!
Valerie smirks and takes a sip from her drink.
ALEC: I don't know if this is such a good idea. JESSICA: Oh, just shut up, Alec. Just shut up and kiss me. ALEC: Fine...you don't have to tell me twice.
JESSICA: Good. Because of all the things we're going to be doing twice, talking isn't one of them.
SIMON: I'll get that. Simon stands up and goes to the door. He opens it and finds Michael Hanley standing outside. SIMON: Mr. Eastcott. MICHAEL: Simon...you have company. Can we talk privately? SIMON: Of course. Denise, I'll be out in the hallway. DENISE: Okay. Simon and Michael step into the hallway, closing the door. SIMON: What's up? MICHAEL: I'm afraid I have some bad news. You see, your temporary relocation to Fordham has become problematic. SIMON: Why? I mean, I know you've told me that I can't leave the city, and I haven't. I don't even ride the El to work. Or the Metra. MICHAEL: Yes, but I told you that somewhere in Illinois is where you'd relocated from, and now...there's danger in you still being in the state. I needed you close by before, to transition you, but as of now...you'll need to relocate once again. SIMON: I have to...I have to what? MICHAEL: Relocate. I have a plane ticket for you in my pocket. A one-way ticket to Paris. Around the corner, William Connor listens in, stopping as he heads toward Simon's apartment. WILLIAM: We'll see about that, Michael. executive producer |
