Marquette Cove High School

Administrative Office. Lori Racine picks up her purse and is about to turn off a light, as Joel Kincaid enters.

LORI: Joel! What are you doing here?

JOEL: I came by to see you.

LORI: You did?

JOEL: Didn't you get my message?

LORI: No...I'm sorry, I lost my phone in my apartment somewhere. And it was on silent.

JOEL: Oh.

LORI: What's up?

JOEL: I was actually coming to see if you wanted to attend the party at the Hanley mansion with me tonight. For some reason, I've been invited.

LORI: Well, your daughter and Vincent Moore have become very close friends lately. As I've noticed.

JOEL: I see.

LORI: And I'd love to go. [Beat] But...I already promised to go with Duncan. He'll be driving me there.

JOEL: Oh. Duncan.

LORI: Sorry, it was just sort of last minute. But I'll see you there?

JOEL: Yeah. Just, you know, be careful around my brother.

LORI: Why?

JOEL: Well, he served time in jail for murdering my first wife.

LORI: Oh my God.

JOEL: He was released, but only because of a technicality. He's a murder. And a -

Duncan Kincaid enters.

DUNCAN: Joel. What are you doing here?

JOEL: Leaving. Joel exits.

DUNCAN: What was that all about?

LORI: Nothing...it was nothing. [Beat] You ready?

Hanley Home

Foyer. Vincent Moore is sitting on the stairs, watching guests enter the mansion. Riley Schaefer descends the stairs, sitting down next to Vince.

RILEY: Happy Birthday, Vince.

VINCE: Thanks, Riley. I've been looking forward to this...my eighteenth birthday. A nice milestone. I'm an adult now.

RILEY: Well, get out there, enjoy yourself. I should get back to work as your official party security, or Michael just might fire me.

VINCE: [Laughs] Yeah, that'll happen.

Riley stands and descends to the front door, disappearing outside. He passes by Sara Reynolds, entering with Darren Reynolds, Blake Thomas, and Robert Bale.

VINCE: Speak of the bitch. [Beat] I should let Michael know that Robert is here.

Living Room. Mark Zane takes a drink from a waiter, downing it in one gulp. He replaces the drink and grabs two more, walking over to Kelli Anderson, who is sitting on the couch.

MARK: Kelli! What's up?

KELLI: Oh...hey, Mark.

MARK: Got you a drink.

KELLI: No thank you. I'm the...um, designated driver.

MARK: For who?

KELLI: Whom.

MARK: You know, I guess I really can't help myself from drinking away my sorrows. Since I'm this close to being homeless.

KELLI: What?

MARK: Oh no, it's not like a hurricane blew through Marquette Cove and destroyed my home. [Laughs] That was a joke.

KELLI: It wasn't funny.

MARK: But my parents did lose their jobs. This week. Because of Michael Hanley, your ex-boyfriend's new father.

Bale Home

Kitchen. Felicia Bale enters, removing a bottle of vodka from a cabinet.

FELICIA: Those shots at the bar weren't nearly enough for me...if I'm going to be at that party with Robert and Melissa, at least I'll make sure that I'm having fun.

Felicia drinks the vodka straight from the bottle, reaching for her cell phone.

Holden Home

Bedroom. The phone rings, interrupting Valerie Hanley-Holden and Simon Holden as they are about to have sex. Valerie groans, as Simon answers the phone.

VALERIE: Simon, you should have let Matt get it!

SIMON: It'll only take a second, I promise. [Into the phone] Hello?

FELICIA: [on phone] Simon! Where's Valerie? Aren't you two coming to the party?

SIMON: Felicia, are you drunk?

FELICIA: Just a little...

SIMON: Valerie, here's the phone. It's your sister.

VALERIE: Christ. I wish I'd kept my mouth shut about that secret right about now.

Valerie takes the phone.

VALERIE: Felicia, what is it? [Beat] Oh, dear lord. [Beat] Have you been drinking? [Beat] Well, you're not driving anywhere. You know what happened the last time you did that. [Beat] I'll be right there.

Valerie hangs up the phone.

VALERIE: I'm sorry, Simon.

SIMON: No, it's fine...she's your sister.

VALERIE: Half-sister.

SIMON: Same thing.

VALERIE: Don't I know it.

Hanley Home

Driveway. Julia Mitchell walks toward the house, as a hand clasps her mouth and pulls her from the walkway. As Julia is pulled into the grass, she finally realizes that it was Morris Anderson who grabbed her.

JULIA: Morris! What the hell is wrong with you?

MORRIS: Nothing. I just figured we might have more fun in this position than in that boring party.

JULIA: Trust me, a party at the Hanley mansion is far from boring.

MORRIS: Then why subject ourselves to other people being tortured by Michael Hanley and his new gargoyle?

JULIA: Vince is my friend, Morris.

MORRIS: Yes, but I'm your boyfriend.

JULIA: Oh, boyfriend now, is it?

MORRIS: Sure. Why not?

JULIA: Uh huh. Why not.

Julia kisses Morris.

MORRIS: Now, what do you say we get out of here and spend some time in my bedroom while the house isn't occupied?

JULIA: I've got an even better idea.

MORRIS: Oh, what's that?

JULIA: With everyone inside, no one's going to be in the garden out back...and it's awfully romantic this time of night.

Morris kisses Julia.

MORRIS: Lead the way, baby.
