"A Hard Day's Night"
season four, episode twenty nine
May 18, 2005

Previously...

Vince, Kelli, Melissa, Joel, Duncan, and Lori died in Marquette Cove within a span of days. Once everyone was laid to rest in their coffins, they awoke to discover they weren't really dead. As they screamed from their graves, unable to escape, all six victims blacked out and awoke in limousines transporting them to the Highwind Resort, where their host Rory Kahn informed them that their loved ones think they're dead, and they are now being held as prisoners.

Tom King revealed that he kidnapped the souls of seven victims and placed them in the fictional world of St. Laurent, while their bodies continued to exist in Marquette Cove. He is unaware of any side-effects that may occur from the victims exisiting without their souls in Marquette Cove, and souls without their bodies in St. Laurent.

The seventh guest at the Highwind Resort was revealed to be Michael Thomas, who told his ex-girlfriend Kelli that he was really his twin brother, Blake Thomas. It was a lie.

Some other stuff happened in St. Laurent.

...Oh, fine. Apparently, some other people are in St. Laurent as well. Sean Moore (Vince's father), Kelly Crane (Duncan's girlfriend and Joel's ex-wife), Tyler Maddock (Melissa's still-born son, who's somehow in his twenties now), Samantha Clark (Ryan Phillips' — remember him? — no-longer-comatose girlfriend), Erin Maddock (Melissa's daughter), and Derek Moore (Vince's uncle).

Kelly Crane awoke to find her hair disheveled and her clothes lying in a heap next to her. She sat up and wrapped herself in the blanket she'd been lying on, and then she turned to see that there was a man lying next to her. Gasping, Kelly turned the man over and saw that it was Joel Kincaid.

"Joel?" Kelly cried.

Joel opened his eyes and stared at Kelly with a grin on his face. Joel reached out and touched Kelly's face, just to see if he hadn't imagined being with her. He brushed his hand against her cheek and then sat up to face her.

"Kelly...you're alive," Joel said.

"Oh my God, Joel, what are you doing here?" Kelly demanded.

"I was brought here," Joel replied. "Along with other people from Marquette Cove, we're being held prisoner at the Highwind."

"Oh God," Kelly gasped. "This is...I don't even know what to say! I need to catch my breath."

"You're just a little tired, from what we —"

"This shouldn't have happened," Kelly insisted, rising to her feet and keeping herself covered still. "We're...we're divorced. And both dead."

"We're not dead, we've been held captive," Joel insisted. "I thought that you had been murdered, I thought that Duncan had killed you all those years ago. But he didn't, you'd just been kidnapped and brought here."

"You thought that...Duncan wouldn't have killed me," Kelly snapped. "We were in love."

"Don't say that," Joel said. "He clouded your mind, made you think that —"

"Dammit, Joel," Kelly said, sighing. "How many years has it been? You still can't get it through your head that Duncan and I were in love! Before I died, he came to see me that night. He told me that he wanted to marry me."

Joel frowned. "You're confused. I get that. This is all very —"

Joel was cut off as the air ventilation shaft above them came crashing to the ground. It didn't hurt either Joel or Kelly, but it revealed two people who had been crawling through the vent. Joel looked up and recognized the people as Derek Moore and Samantha Clark.

"What the hell?" Joel demanded. "You two are —"

"Alive?" Samantha asked. "Yeah, and we're trying to escape."

Derek glanced at Joel and Kelly, smirking. "Unlike you two."

Joel groaned loudly. "Just get down here."

Outskirts of St. Laurent

Lake Logan

While they embraced, Vincent Moore and his father Sean's reunion was interrupted by the sound of a bloodcurdling scream erupting into the air. Vince broke away from his father and stared off into the distance.

"Oh my God," Vince gasped. "That sounds like Kelli!"

"Your friend, Kelli Anderson?" Sean asked.

"Yes," Vince said, climbing to his feet and helping his dad stand. "We've got to find her before she gets —"

Before Vince could finish, the ground gave away beneath them. Sean and Vince had been resting on ice that had only just now began to crack. Vince cried out and tried to wildly reach out and grab some part of the ice that was still stable, but he and his father remained helpless as they sank beneath the surface of the icy water.

"Dad!" Vince cried, attempting to claw at the edge of the ice still floating on top of the water.

But Vince felt weak and couldn't reach his hand further, so he continued to drift to the bottom with his father. Vince began to black out, when he saw someone grab Sean's arm and pull him out of the water. Vince's eyes widened as he was yanked from the icy water next and thrown onto the surface above.

"Oh God..." Vince moaned as he coughed up water. "Dad, are you..."

Vince turned to look at his father, but saw that he was unconscious. Vince hurried to his father's side, but he was struck from the back of his head. Vince's eyes rolled back and everything turned black once again as he fell onto the ground.

Standing above Vince and Sean was Rory Kahn, holding a large icesicles in his hand. He had used it to knock out both men.

"Kelli's not going to be needing your help," Rory said softly.

Duncan Kincaid opened his eyes and groaned, feeling the side of his waist. He was lying in a mound of snow in pain from the gust of wind that had sent him flying into the air before dropping him onto the ground. He was also freezing from the cold and couldn't stop his teeth from chattering.

"Lori," Duncan gasped. "I have to...I have to find her..."

"Here we go," Duncan said, standing before the forcefield. "We'll go through, find the others, and then get back to the Highwind as quickly as possible."

"Hopefully we won't need to, and there'll be some kind of clue as to how to get out of here," Lori said. "I don't want to have to return to the Highwind where that woman is."

"I know," Duncan said, picking up a snowball and aiming it at the forcefield. "But that may be the only way to get out of this damn place."

As the snowball hit the forcefield, a bright light burst into the air, creating a large tear in it. As that happened, the wall of ice behind the forcefield slid open, allowing an entryway for Duncan and Lori. They raced through as quickly as they could, and a few moments later, the wall closed again.

"Okay, what do we do now?" Lori asked.

As if in response, a large gust of wind from the ongoing blizzard hit Lori in the face, knocking her onto the ground. Duncan cried out and tried helping her, but a larger wind lifted him into the air and sent him hurtling away from her.

"She's still out there somewhere," Duncan said, struggling to roll over. "I have to find Lori before she's...we have to find the others..."

Before Duncan could react, he felt someone grab him by his legs. Duncan cried out as he was dragged through the snow by someone. Duncan couldn't make out the features on their face, so he cried out to them to see who they were.

"Let me go!" Duncan cried. "Leave me alone! I have to find Lori!"

Once Joel and Kelly were dressed, they helped Derek and Samantha climb out of the air vent. Derek dusted himself off, just as Joel grabbed his arm and glared at him.

"The last time I checked, you'd been blown up," Joel said. "So how do you explain ending up here in St. Laurent?"

"You're right, the last time I was anywhere was at the Emerald Church," Derek answered. "But I ended up here the same as all of you, after the car blew up, I ended up here in St. Laurent."

Derek stood near a window where he had a clear view of Michael standing near the altar, talking to someone he didn't recognize.

"Come on, Michael," Derek said, aiming the gun at the window. "Just a few steps to the right and I'll be able to blow your head off."

Derek frowned when he realized the double entendre he had just uttered, but kept his focus on Michael.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Derek froze; realizing that someone had found him. And that someone could very well be the person intending to kill him.

"I was just…looking for a way in," Derek explained, quickly lowering his gun and turning to face what turned out to be a police officer.

Derek hid the gun behind his back, hoping the officer hadn't seen it.

"Try the door," the officer said.

"You're absolutely correct," Derek said. "But you know what? I have to get a camera from my car. I have to...go..."

Derek slipped the gun into his pocket as he headed toward his car.

"I didn't really need a flashback," Derek muttered.

"What was that?" Joel asked.

"Nothing," Derek said. "But that's the last thing I remember, just like the last thing Samantha remembers is being pushed down the stairs by one of her students, Alexis Lopez."

"So that's what happened!" Joel cried. "I knew it!"

"When we get back to Marquette Cove, and we can prove that we all aren't dead, then I'm going to make sure that bitch is put behind bars," Samantha insisted.

"Well, actually, she's kind of locked in an insane asylum," Joel replied. "She kidnapped a baby. It was actually Vanessa and —"

"We can talk about that later," Derek said, cutting Joel off. "Samantha just needs to think about getting back to Marquette Cove, with her unattached fiancé."

"Who left town," Joel said.

"Joel," Derek snapped.

"I think we should get going," Samantha said. "We need to get out of here before our captors get back."

After Samantha spoke, she heard someone screaming in the distance. Samantha hurried to the door and waited for a moment, hearing another scream soon after.

"Guys, someone's in trouble," Samantha realized.

Outskirts of St. Laurent

"Thomas, stop!" Kelli Anderson screamed as Michael Thomas climbed on top of her and ripped open her shirt.

He leaned forward and kissed her on the neck, before running his tongue along her shoulder. He pressed her against the ground, holding her in the snow and smiling as she shivered from the cold.

"You're going to give me everything I want, Kelli," Thomas insisted. "I deserve it after you've been screwing Vince for months!"

Thomas slapped Kelli across the face.

"Did you climb into bed with him before I was even dead?" Thomas demanded. "Or did you leave my funeral to bang him?"

"Thomas, please," Kelli pleaded. "Just let me — let me go!"

Thomas reached for Kelli's belt and began to undo her pants, when someone grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back. Thomas cried out as he was pushed into the snow face first, and someone stepped on his back.

"Oh my God," Kelli cried, seeing Joel standing over Thomas. "Joel! Thank God!"

Derek stepped forward and helped Kelli rise to her feet, but she quickly pulled away from him when she realized who he was.

"Derek," Kelli gasped. "What are — what the hell are you doing here?"

"Trying to save you from this bastard who was about to rape you," Derek said.

"But you...you don't belong here," Kelli said. "You belong in hell for what you did to Vince's family."

"Kelli, you don't know what you're talking about," Derek insisted, glaring at her.

Before she could respond, Kelly and Samantha brushed past him to see if Kelli was okay. Kelli gasped at recognizing Samantha, but she didn't know who Joel's ex-wife was. As Kelly attempted to explain who she was, Joel lifted Thomas from the ground and held him with Thomas' arms behind his back.

"Okay, you son of a bitch," Joel growled. "You're going to give us some goddamn answers. And I mean now."

Lori Racine stumbled through the snow, shielding her eyes with her arm to keep the wind from hitting her in the face. As she walked, she noticed someone familiar rising to her feet. It was Melissa Maddock, and she was being helped by some man that Lori didn't recognize. Thinking that Melissa could be in danger, Lori stood for a few moments to see what would happen.

"Thank you for helping me," Melissa said, as Tyler took her hand. "But who...who are you?"

"I was being held prisoner here in St. Laurent," Tyler replied. "I got lost after I escaped...I'm trying to find my mother."

"Your mother?" Melissa asked, feeling oddly connected to him. "Do I know her, what's her name?"

"Melissa!" Lori called out, finally approaching them. "Thank God you're okay!"

"Melissa?" Tyler demanded. "Your name is Melissa?"

"What's going on here?" Lori asked. "Who's this?"

"He was being held prisoner here, just like us," Melissa said. "But it must have been somewhere else beside the Highwind."

"You were being held at the...at the Highwind?" Tyler asked, his voice trembling.

"Yes," Melissa said.

"And your name is Melissa? Melissa Maddock?"

"How did you know my last name?" Melissa demanded.

"Oh my God," Tyler gasped. "You're my...you're my..."

"I'm your what?"

"You're my mother!" Tyler cried.

"Tyler?" Melissa gasped. "Are you...oh God, this isn't possible."

Lori stood next to them, bewildered. She couldn't believe that Tyler, Melissa's son, was still alive after she had miscarried him months ago in Marquette Cove. It didn't seem possible, not with Tyler seeming all of twenty years old. So either they had been held in St. Laurent for much longer than Lori knew, or something wasn't right here. It could be another trap.

"Melissa, we have to find the others," Lori said quickly, attempt to divert her attention. "We have to get out of —"

Before Lori had a chance to finish, she was cut off when she felt a sharp pain in her back. Lori cried out and crumpled to the ground. Startled, Melissa and Tyler turned to see what was wrong with her, but they too felt something pierce their skin, only this time they were hit in their necks by a sharp object.

Seconds later, Melissa and Tyler were unconscious as well.

The Highwind Resort

Melissa Maddock's Room

Rory Kahn unlocked the door to Melissa's room and stepped inside, where he found Erin Maddock lying on the bed, still unconscious. He walked toward the bed, smiling as Erin breathed slowly in her sleep. He stood over her and reached out to touch her hair.

Rory ran his fingers through her soft reddish blond hair and touch her scalp, feeling her warm skin. He rarely felt the warmth of a human body, being an apparition and hardly ever able to touch humans since he was never close enough to them.

But touching Erin now, it made him feel almost human. It made him feel almost as if he were a part of the world she existed in. Not this world she was trapped in, not this figment of someone's horrible imagination...a real world. Not this place where motivations and actions were false.

"What are you doing?"

Rory spun around and found Monique Champlain staring at him from the doorway. He frowned and removed his fingers from Erin's hair.

"Your services are no longer needed," Rory said.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Our mastermind is moving along with his plans," Rory replied. "The Highwind Resort is no more."

"And what about the girl?" Monique demanded.

"She's being relocated," Rory said.

"What? Where?"

Rory smirked. "Someplace I'm sure you're very familiar with."

Outskirts of St. Laurent

"I don't have to tell you a damn thing," Thomas insisted, struggling to break free from Joel's grip. "Let me go!"

"You're going to tell us who's keeping us captive," Joel said. "We've been prisoner here months, and you've been in bed with the person who did this to us."

"He tried...he tried to rape me," Kelli gasped. "Thomas, you tried to rape me!"

"Kelli, I have no idea what you're talking about," Thomas said. "I'm not Michael Thomas, I'm Blake, Kelli. I'm not my brother!"

"He's lying!" Kelli cried. "He's not Blake!"

"Kelli, it's okay," Samantha said, holding Kelli's hand. "We'll deal with all of this."

"We know you're Michael Thomas," Derek said. "Those other two told holding us captive told us your name while we were all in cells."

"This is nuts," Thomas snapped. "All of you are crazy."

"And you're a goddamn liar," Joel snarled. "I should break your fucking neck right —"

As Joel spoke, an icesicle flew through the air and hit him in the back. Joel tried to react, but he was soon knocked unconscious from the icesicle, which had poison on its tip. Thomas was finally able to escape from Joel, while the others tried advancing on him.

But one by one, they were all struck by icesicles themselves. Kelly...Samantha...Derek...and then Kelli, she was the last one. As she collapsed, Thomas caught her in his arms and smiled, kissing her on the forehead.

"I'll deal with you later, honey," Thomas said, releasing Kelli and letting her drop to the ground.

Vincent Moore opened his eyes, groaning from the pain he felt in his side. He felt slightly warmer than he had outside, but he was still cold. He looked down at the ground and saw that it was snowing, even though he was inside of a building...but he had no idea how he had gotten there.

Vince tried to move, but found that he was bound to something. After struggling a bit, he saw that he was handcuffed to a pole that was resting on a stage. Vince looked around and saw that everyone else he'd lost in the blizzard had been bound as well, along with people he didn't know.

"It's no use, Vince," Sean said, trying to calm his son down. "We're all handcuffed to these poles."

Kelli, Joel, Lori, Duncan, and Melissa had regained consciousness as well and were each attempt to break free from poles they were handcuffed to. Derek, Samantha, Kelly, Tyler, and Erin were also handcuffed to poles.

Vince, still bewildered, also realized that the room was covered in ice and had penguins walking around. He blinked to see if something was wrong with his vision, but he wasn't imagining things. As he stared at the penguin, a young blonde woman that he didn't recognize entered the room from a door at the far end.

The blonde woman looked at Vince and smiled. She clapped her hands to get the attention of everyone else in the room.

"Welcome prisoners," the woman grinned. "Welcome to the Diamond Dolls Gentleman's Club...it's such a shame that none of you will be leaving alive."
