"Not a Second Time"
season four, episode twenty seven
May 16, 2005

Previously...

Vince, Kelli, Melissa, Joel, Duncan, and Lori died in Marquette Cove within a span of days. Once everyone was laid to rest in their coffins, they awoke to discover they weren't really dead. As they screamed from their graves, unable to escape, all six victims blacked out and awoke in limousines transporting them to the Highwind Resort, where their host Rory Kahn informed them that their loved ones think they're dead, and they are now being held as prisoners.

Tom King revealed that he kidnapped the souls of seven victims and placed them in the fictional world of St. Laurent, while their bodies continued to exist in Marquette Cove. He is unaware of any side-effects that may occur from the victims exisiting without their souls in Marquette Cove, and souls without their bodies in St. Laurent.

The seventh guest at the Highwind Resort was revealed to be Michael Thomas, who told his ex-girlfriend Kelli that he was really his twin brother, Blake Thomas. It was a lie.

Some other stuff happened in St. Laurent.

...Oh, fine. Apparently, some other people are in St. Laurent as well. Sean Moore (Vince's father), Kelly Crane (Duncan's girlfriend and Joel's ex-wife), Tyler Maddock (Melissa's still-born son, who's somehow in his twenties now), Samantha Clark (Ryan Phillips' — remember him? — no-longer-comatose girlfriend), Erin Maddock (Melissa's daughter), and Derek Moore (Vince's uncle).

Giselle Ormand's Office

Monique Champlain angrily strode into Giselle Ormand's office, carrying a manilla folder in her hand. She thrust the folder into Rory Kahn's chest and glared at him as he snatched the folder away from her and sighed.

"What is it now, Monique?"

"Read that!" Monique cried. "Things are falling apart at that goddamn Bel Ami Club, and Isoke is nowhere to be found."

"She's back in Marquette Cove, dealing with other relevant issues," Rory said. "Trust me, Isoke knows the gravity of the situation here."

"Does she?" Monique demanded. "Because we have escaped captives, missing captives, and captives on the verge of death right here in the damn Highwind."

"What?"

"Erin Maddock is still unconscious," Monique explained. "And Michael Thomas has for some reason, stranded Melissa, Joel, Vince, and Kelli outside the forcefield. That's not even going into the territory of half the people from the Bel Ami escaping either."

"Well, Giselle did say that her sons were inept," Rory muttered.

Monique glanced over at Giselle's chair, where the woman was seated with her back to them. She was busy talking on the phone, and probably hadn't heard Rory's comment.

"Shut up, do you want her to hear you?"

"Oh please," Rory said. "What's that old crone going to do? Isoke is the real mastermind behind this operation. And I'm barely corporeal."

Monique folded her arms. "Be that as it may…I still wouldn't get on Giselle's bad side if I were you."

Melissa Maddock's Room

"I can't believe my brother is really gone," Duncan Kincaid said softly, staring out the window. "This can't be happening. What kind of person could torture us like this? Bring us here…only to kill us off?"

"I don't know if we can even trust Blake," Lori Racine insisted, from where she was seated on the bed, stroking Erin Maddock's hair. "He had Erin in his room. He's obviously been lying to us since we met him.

"What are you saying?"

"Your brother might not be dead," Lori said. "And neither are Kelli or Vince. I think Blake did something to them. He seems squirrelly enough."

"So maybe he found Erin, and then what?" Duncan demanded. "I mean, what would he have done to her?"

"Maybe he was holding her captive because she knows something about him," Lori insisted. "Maybe he really does know what's going on here in St. Laurent."

"Then we need to find him," Duncan said. "Where'd he go?"

Lori glanced around the room. "He was here a few minutes ago…is he outside?"

Duncan walked over to the door and peered outside. Blake was nowhere in sight, and neither was Melissa.

"Shit," Duncan grumbled. "We've got to find them."

"Wait a second…didn't we have this conversation a few episodes ago?" Lori asked.

"Who cares? It's less writing," Duncan said.

"I guess."

"But we have to figure out where Blake is, along with everyone else," Duncan continued. "And I think I know exactly who has all of the answers."

"Who?" Lori demanded.

"Giselle Ormand," Duncan said. "Monique is her right-hand woman. And she tells her everything. Giselle has to know everything going on here."

"Then let's go get answers," Lori said.

Duncan turned back to look at Erin. "We'll make sure to lock the door to keep Erin safe. Safe enough until we can bring her mother back to her."

Outskirts of St. Laurent

"I've been watching you lust after Vince for months now, and forget all about me!" Michael Thomas cried, pushing Kelli Anderson onto the ground. "But don't worry, because once I'm done with you, you won't even remember Vince's name."

"Thomas! What are you doing?" Kelli cried, sliding back in the snow.

"I'm your boyfriend," Thomas said. "Remember? And as your boyfriend, I'm going to get what's rightfully mine from you…whether you like it or not."

"Thomas, leave me alone," Kelli snapped. "You don't know what you're doing!"

"I know exactly what I'm doing," Thomas said. "I thought maybe we'd have sex, then we could catch up a little. How's life been without your cancer-ridden boyfriend?"

"Thomas, I didn't know you were alive," Kelli insisted. "And you told me to move on without you."

Thomas kneeled next to Kelli and pressed her against the ground. He leaned forward and kissed Thomas, and then he pulled away from her.

"Did I tell you to move on with Vince?" Thomas demanded.

"Well, how about you?" Kelli asked, glaring at Thomas. "You didn't have to lie to me when I found you! You could have told me it was you."

Thomas slapped Kelli across the face.

"You bitch, don't you ever talk back to me," Thomas growled. "The only talking you'll be doing is screaming my name while you're moaning."

"Thomas, you can't…you can't do this," Kelli cried. "This is rape!"

"Oh, is that what it is?" Thomas asked, leaning in to kiss Kelli once more.

Giselle Ormand's Office

"I don't care if I upset Giselle, what's she going to do?" Rory whispered. "Nag me to death? Blackmail me? With what, pray tell?"

"Well, I'm not sure how you could blackmail an apparition, but still," Monique said. "I'm sure we could find a way."

Before Rory had a chance to respond, the door to Giselle's office burst open. Lori and Duncan stormed into the office with cross looks on their face, and they immediately stared down Monique and Rory.

"What the hell are you two doing in here?" Rory demanded.

"If this is about your paychecks, it's not the end of the month," Monique said. "And it's not as if you have anything to spend it on. St. Laurent doesn't even have eBay."

"Wait, really?" Rory asked.

"It's a copyright thing," Monique muttered. "But anyway, you two need to get out."

"We want answers, lackey," Lori snapped.

"Who are you calling a lackey?"

"Do you see any others?" Lori demanded. "I mean, besides Casper over here."

Monique stepped forward and tried slapping Lori, but Lori caught her arm and pushed it away.

"You sure are a fan of the slapping, aren't you?" Lori asked, rolling her eyes.

"Tell us how to get through the forcefield," Duncan said.

"What makes you think I know how?"

"I'm assuming you're a part-time forcefield operator. You've done everything else in the book," Duncan replied.

"Just tell them," Rory said.

"But, I don't —" Monique caught herself, suddenly realizing that if she sent Duncan and Lori beyond the forcefield, it would wash her hands of the problems she currently had. She could leave everything on Beau and Remy's shoulders. "Oh, alright. If you're going to keep whining about it…you throw a snowball at it."

"What?" Duncan demanded. "Are you kidding me?"

Monique sighed. "Unfortunately, no."

"Fine. Let's go," Duncan said, turning toward the door.

"Not yet," Lori insisted. "Not until they give us more."

"What else do you bitches want?" Monique demanded.

"When we're done finding the others, you're going to tell us how to get out of here," Lori snapped.

Monique groaned and walked around the desk to face Giselle, who was still uninterested in the conversation. Monique placed her hands on the chair and frowned at Giselle.

"So you're going to give us all the answers we want, understand?" Lori demanded.

"If you want answers," Monique said, spinning Giselle's chair around. "Talk to her!"

As Giselle's chair spun around, Duncan and Lori were stunned as they found a corpse dressed in a business suit resting in the chair. Giselle had a horrible grin on her face and was wearing a pair of reading glasses. After it registered for a moment, Lori opened her mouth and screamed as loudly as she could.

Outskirts of St. Laurent

"Dad?" Vincent Moore spoke, tears swelling in his eyes. "Oh my God, dad!"

"Huh?" Sean Moore blinked and opened his eyes, reaching out to touch Vince. "Vince…is that really…is that you?"

"Yes, dad, it's really me!" Vince cried, leaning forward to hug his father. "I can't believe you're alive!"

Vince was still lying in the snow after tripping over his father's body, but the feelings of how cold it was were absent from his mind as he realized that his father was lying before him, alive and well. It was a moment Vince had prayed would come for years, and now, in the midst of being held prisoner and nearly dying in this blizzard, he had been reunited with his father.

"I can't believe it," Vince said. "You're really, you're really alive!"

"Vincent…I can't believe it's you," Sean gasped. "You here. How did you…how did you get here?"

"Dad, I've been a prisoner here, just like you," Vince said. "But you…you've been here for years! We thought you had died in the car explosion that Uncle Derek set-up."

"Derek…I know," Sean said. "He's the one who put me here, along with —"

"Michael Hanley, he's the one who killed Derek," Vince continued, cutting off his father. "He's the one who helped me get rid of Derek…at least, I think so."

"Michael killed Derek?"

"Yeah, which is why I'm living with…without guilt," Vince said. "I wanted to kill him when I found out what he did to you, dad. But I couldn't."

"It's good, Michael could have hurt you," Sean said. "Is that how you ended up here?"

"No…why would Michael hurt me?" Vince demanded. "I'm here because of…actually, I don't know why. I pretend died in a collapsing church, but someone else brought me here. Dad, we have to find the person behind all of this and stop them."

"I know who held us captive, but I don't think those jokers are behind all of this," Sean insisted. "They're not that smart."

"No, I know exactly who's behind all of this," Vince said. "The not-so-dead Michael Thomas."

"Oh my God, she's dead!" Lori cried, nearly collapsing into Duncan's arms.

He caught her and helped to maintain her balance, all the while turning to Monique to stare at her in shock.

"You killed her?" Duncan asked. "You've been keeping her in that chair ever since we got here, and she's been dead the entire time?"

"Pardon?" Giselle demanded. "I am far from dead."

Duncan screamed almost as loudly as Lori. "What the hell?! You're a corpse!"

"Watch your mouth, young man," Giselle snapped.

"She's not dead, she's just…really old," Rory said. "We're talking Jurassic here."

"Oh my God," Lori said, clutching her stomach as if she were about to vomit. "This is so…she's so disgusting!"

"I think we're just going to leave," Duncan said. "We'll, um…we'll find our own way out of St. Laurent."

He helped Lori to the door and opened it, casting one more glance in Giselle's direction. Duncan shuddered as he left the office and slammed the door shut.

"Do I really look that horrible?" Giselle asked. "Monique, get me a mirror."

Monique sighed and cast a look in Rory's direction, but he held his hands up and backed away from Monique.

"I'm not touching that situation," Rory said, vanishing out of the room.

"Bitches," Monique muttered.

Outskirts of St. Laurent

As Thomas continued to kiss Kelli, she tried biting his lip to get him to stop. Thomas cried out in pain and sat up, feeling for the blood on his bottom lip. While he was preoccupied, Kelli kneed him in the groin and tried to slide out from under him.

"You're sick, Thomas!" Kelli cried, climbing to her feet.

She tried running, but he grabbed her leg and pulled her back. Kelli slid and fell onto her chest, while Thomas crawled onto her back and grabbed at her hair with his fingers. He lifted Kelli's face and slammed it into the snow.

"You stupid bitch," Thomas snapped. "Did you give Vince this much trouble?"

He spun Kelli around onto her back and slapped her across the face. The slap was hard enough to draw blood and tears from Kelli. Thomas grinned as he ripped off her jacket and began to unbutton her shirt.

"This isn't going to hurt, Kelli," Thomas said. "But it's going to change your life. Forever."

"Michael Thomas? He's can't be behind this, he was being held captive with us," Sean insisted.

"Trust me, dad, I know what I'm talking about," Vince said. "But don't worry about him now, we'll deal with all of this once we find somewhere to get you before you freeze to death."

"All right," Sean said, attempting to climb to his knees. "And Vincent?"

"Yeah, dad?"

"I'm so glad to see you," Sean replied.

Vince smiled. "Me too."

"How's your mother? Your sister?" Sean asked.

Vince found himself tearing up at the mention of his family, and wiped the tears away from his eyes quickly. "They're great, dad. They're both amazing and beautiful and they can't wait until you come home. We've prayed for it every day."

"Well now that I've found you, I'm never going to let you go," Sean said, hugging his son. "I've been away from you for too long."

While they continued to embrace, their reunion was interrupted by the sound of a bloodcurdling scream erupting into the air. Vince broke away from his father and stared off into the distance.

"Oh my God," Vince gasped. "That sounds like Kelli!"

"Your friend, Kelli Anderson?" Sean asked.

"Yes," Vince said, climbing to his feet and helping his dad stand. "We've got to find her before she gets —"

Before Vince could finish, the ground gave away beneath them. Sean and Vince had been resting on ice that had only just now began to crack. Vince cried out and tried to wildly reach out and grab some part of the ice that was still stable, but he and his father remained helpless as they sank beneath the surface of the icy water.

"Here we go," Duncan said, standing before the forcefield. "We'll go through, find the others, and then get back to the Highwind as quickly as possible."

"Hopefully we won't need to, and there'll be some kind of clue as to how to get out of here," Lori said. "I don't want to have to return to the Highwind where that woman is."

"I know," Duncan said, picking up a snowball and aiming it at the forcefield. "But that may be the only way to get out of this damn place."

As the snowball hit the forcefield, a bright light burst into the air, creating a large tear in it. As that happened, the wall of ice behind the forcefield slid open, allowing an entryway for Duncan and Lori. They raced through as quickly as they could, and a few moments later, the wall closed again.

"Okay, what do we do now?" Lori asked.

As if in response, a large gust of wind from the ongoing blizzard hit Lori in the face, knocking her onto the ground. Duncan cried out and tried helping her, but a larger wind lifted him into the air and sent him hurtling away from her.
