"Roll Over, Beethoven"
season four, episode twenty two
May 09, 2005

Previously...

Vince, Kelli, Melissa, Joel, Duncan, and Lori died in Marquette Cove within a span of days. Once everyone was laid to rest in their coffins, they awoke to discover they weren't really dead. As they screamed from their graves, unable to escape, all six victims blacked out and awoke in limousines transporting them to the Highwind Resort, where their host Rory Kahn informed them that their loved ones think they're dead, and they are now being held as prisoners.

Tom King revealed that he kidnapped the souls of seven victims and placed them in the fictional world of St. Laurent, while their bodies continued to exist in Marquette Cove. He is unaware of any side-effects that may occur from the victims exisiting without their souls in Marquette Cove, and souls without their bodies in St. Laurent.

The seventh guest at the Highwind Resort was revealed to be Michael Thomas, who told his ex-girlfriend Kelli that he was really his twin brother, Blake Thomas. It was a lie.

Some other stuff happened in St. Laurent.

Outskirts of St. Laurent

Vincent Moore stumbled through the snow, folding his arms and attempting to keep warm. He was still searching for Michael Thomas after rushing after him earlier. Vince had no idea how long he had been past the forcefield, or where he was. It was snowing heavily outside the forcefield, and so Vince had a feeling that there was a reason the Highwind Resort was inside it.

Vince could barely even see, so he had no idea how he was going to be able to find Thomas.

Vince kept a close watch on Thomas as they approached the large forcefield of electrified ice surrounding the Highwind, and apparently where St. Laurent ended. Vince buttoned the jacket he was now wearing and breathed heavily as he hurried to catch up with Thomas.

He noticed Thomas reach into the snow and pick up a handful of it. Thomas patted the snow into a ball and threw it at the forcefield. A surge of electricity lit up the forcefield and turned it a bright blue color. A few seconds later, the ice wall split in two, leaving a pathway for Thomas.

Vince gasped as Thomas walked through the pathway. He raced after Thomas and tried running through the pathway as the wall's halves began sliding back together. Vince leapt forward and landed on the other side of the forcefield in a mound of snow, just as the wall sealed itself once more.

"Damn you Thomas," Vince muttered. "I'm going to find you and show everyone what a manipulative bastard you are."

Melissa Maddock's Room

The Highwind Resort

Melissa Maddock sat on the edge of her bed, running her fingers through her daughter's hair. Erin Maddock looked so calm and peaceful as she laid unconscious on Melissa's bed. Melissa stared at Erin, waiting for her to finally wake up. After Melissa discovered her in Blake Thomas's, room, she briefly went into shock that her daughter was still alive.

"Erin, I knew you weren't dead," Melissa said softly, smiling at her daughter. "If there's one good thing that's come out of this horrible ordeal, it's me being able to find you again…I just wish you would wake up so you could tell me what happened to you."

"Maybe she can tell us what happened to Blake," Kelli Anderson said, from where she was standing in the room.

"It's obvious that Blake did this to her," Joel Kincaid said, walking into the room.

"No he didn't," Kelli insisted. "Blake wouldn't have hurt Erin."

"You need to open your eyes, Kelli," Joel snapped. "Your friend isn't as squeaky clean as you think he is."

Kelli rolled her eyes. "Where's Vince?"

"He's missing too," Joel said. "Maybe they're in it together."

"You'd just love that, wouldn't you?" Kelli demanded. "To be able to prove someone else is worse than you?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, you are the reason why Duncan and Lori are here, right?"

Joel remained silent.

"I'm going to find Vince and Blake," Kelli said, storming out of the room.

Outskirts of St. Laurent

Michael Thomas walked through the blizzard currently raging outside the St. Laurent forcefield, so that he could return to the Highwind Resort. Though he had only just returned to the Bel Ami Club as not to arouse any suspicions of his disappearance, he soon realized that he would have to return for Erin Maddock.

Fortunately, Beau Ormand had Thomas "relocated" to find out to torture information out of him…or so the other captives believed. Since Beau and Remy were competing with Monique Champlain for their mother, Giselle Ormand's, good graces, Beau sent Thomas to clean up the mess he'd made.

Thomas picked up a snowball from the ground as he neared the forcefield, and then he threw as hard as he could. The electric light around the forcefield froze, and then the ice wall surrounding the Highwind Resort slid open, allowing Thomas an entry point.

"Stop following me!" Kelli shouted, pulling her arm away from Joel.

Once Kelli had put her jacket on and hurried outside to look around the grounds for Vince and Blake, Joel decided to follow her. Kelli only wanted to check outside before focusing on the inside, and since the window in Blake's room had been open there was chance that he might be outside.

"Kelli, you shouldn't be out here alone," Joel insisted.

"Oh, so a big, strong man should be here to protect me?" Kelli demanded. "Tell me, which role are you playing tonight? Police detective or murderer?"

"I don't know who you've been listening to, but you have your story messed up," Joel said. "I didn't bring Duncan and Lori here. Obviously, whoever is keeping us captive here did that."

"But you had a helping hand in it, didn't you?"

As Kelli and Joel argued, they were interrupted by a bright flash of light. They both turned around and saw the ice wall that surrounded the Highwind opening up. Moments later, they both saw Blake walking through the forcefield.

The Highwind Resort

Melissa Maddock's Room

Melissa stood near the window in her room, staring outside at Lake Logan. The lake was frozen, which made it seem even more depressing. Even though Melissa had been reunited with her daughter, they didn't have their lives back. They weren't home in Marquette Cove, where they were able to live without constantly fearing for their safety.

"I just wish we were home," Melissa said. "Maybe then a doctor could help you. I could find out if something's actually wrong with my daughter…why are we being tortured like this? Who could hate us this much?"

"Tyler…"

Melissa turned around abruptly, finding that Erin was slowly awaking. She hurried to the bed and kneeled next to it, grasping her daughter's hand. Erin groaned as she moved around on the bed, hoping that Erin would finally come out of her unconsciousness.

"Erin!" Melissa cried. "Erin, honey, I need you to wake up."

"Tyler…"

"Tyler?" Melissa wondered aloud. "Erin, who's Tyler?"

"My…my brother…"

"Your brother?" Melissa gasped. "My son? Is he…is he alive?"

Outskirts of St. Laurent

"Wrong answer," Joel said, punching Thomas in the stomach and sending him flying onto the ground.

"Detective Kincaid, stop!" Kelli cried.

After Kelli and Joel had confronted Thomas, Joel had immediately grabbed him and tried demanding to know how he had gotten through the forcefield. So far, Joel had been unable to get a response from Thomas, but that wasn't going to stop him from trying.

"He's lying, Kelli," Joel insisted. "There's no way he could have just stumbled through that forcefield by accident, it's an electric block of ice."

"I swear to God, I don't know how it happened!" Thomas cried. "I was just walking, and then the forcefield opened and I went through it. But then I got stuck until it opened up again. I swear!"

"What was Erin doing in your room?" Joel demanded.

"Huh? Erin who?"

"Erin Maddock," Kelli said. "We found her unconscious in your room."

"Kelli, Erin is dead," Thomas said. "She died months ago."

"You know good and well that she's not dead, she's here just like the rest of us," Joel snapped. "Who else are you hiding from us, Blake?"

"Blake, please," Kelli said. "If you know anything, just tell us."

"Is Vince involved in this somehow?"

Thomas remained silent.

"Answer me!" Joel shouted, kicking Thomas in the side.

"Detective Kincaid!" Kelli cried again, grabbing his arm to pull him back.

"All right, I'll tell you!" Thomas gasped, clutching his chest and struggling to breathe. "I'll tell you how to get through the forcefield."

Melissa Maddock's Room

"Erin, who's Tyler?" Melissa repeated. "Honey, is your brother here with us? Is he somewhere in St. Laurent?"

"Tyler? Who are you talking about?"

Melissa glanced up and saw Duncan Kincaid standing in the doorway of her hotel room. She frowned and rose to her feet, crossing over to the door.

"Erin's starting to wake up," Melissa said.

"That's great," Duncan said. "Maybe she can tell us what happened to her, and we can figure out what the hell is going on in this place."

"She mentioned something about her brother," Melissa said softly.

"Brother? You have a son?"

"I did," Melissa said. "The child I was pregnant with…it was a boy."

"Oh my God," Duncan said. "Melissa, don't tell me that —"

"What if my son is still alive, Duncan?" Melissa asked. "And what if he's here in St. Laurent? Whoever arranged all of this could have taken my son away from me!"

Outskirts of St. Laurent

Thomas climbed to his feet and reached into the ground, grabbing a mound of snow. Joel watched him cautiously as Thomas turned to face him and Kelli.

"Okay, here's the thing," Thomas said. "I was throwing snow at the forcefield…and it just…opened."

"I doubt it," Joel muttered.

"Are you sure, Blake?" Kelli asked. "All of this seems really weird. What were you doing out here?"

"I was trying to find a way out, I swear," Thomas said. "I have no idea how Erin Maddock got into my room, I keep the door locked. I didn't even know she was alive!"

"Show us how to open the forcefield," Joel said.

Thomas threw the snowball at the forcefield, causing the electric current to spark. The forcefield disappeared and the wall opened soon after, creating a pathway.

"Oh my God," Kelli gasped. "It worked."

"Let's go," Joel said, starting toward the pathway by taking Kelli's hand.

"Wait, shouldn't we tell the others?" Kelli demanded.

"I'll tell them," Thomas said, taking a step back.

As he stepped backward, the forcefield came back on, creating an electric wall between him and Kelli and Joel.

"I'll the others of your untimely demise."

Thomas cackled as the wall of ice slid back together, trapping Joel and Kelli outside the forcefield.

Melissa Maddock's Room

"Melissa, that's impossible," Duncan said. "If you were pregnant when you came here, there's no way your son could have been taken from you."

"Duncan, I can't explain it, but Erin was talking about her brother," Melissa said.

"I don't know," Duncan said.

"I know it sounds crazy, but I heard what my daughter said," Melissa insisted.

"But you realize that your daughter couldn't have been born yet," Duncan replied.

"How? I mean, how do we even know?" Melissa demanded. "Who knows how long we were all kept unconscious? Maybe I gave birth to my child before we realized we were here. I mean, there has to be an explanation."

"Melissa, I know you want to believe this, but —"

Duncan was interrupted as the door flew open and Thomas staggered into the hotel room, gasping for air.

"Oh my God," Thomas gasped.

"What did you do to my daughter?" Melissa demanded, advancing toward Thomas.

"Your daughter? I don't…what's happening," Thomas said.

"Blake, what's wrong with you?" Duncan demanded.

"I was outside with Vince…and Kelli…and your brother," Thomas said, clutching his chest. "And they're…I think they're all dead!"
