HANLEY HOME
Sean Moore enters the mansion and immediately feels at home. Or rather, Elizabeth Hanley feels at home. Despite what everyone keeps trying to tell him, Sean still thinks of himself as Elizabeth Hanley. They're the only memories he has inside his brain.
Subconsciously, he knows he isn't really a woman. But he looks in the mirror and he sees Elizabeth's face. He feels the way Elizabeth feels. And this place he is in now, is a place that was home to Elizabeth. And now it feels like his home.
And it has been infiltrated.
"How are you?" Leslie Hanley says, attempting to take Sean's hand.
"I'm fine," Sean says, pulling has hand away. "Where's Michael?"
Leslie sighs. "Making sure your room is set up."
"Thanks for helping me with my bags," Denise Price says loudly and sarcastically as she barges into the foyer and tosses her suitcase onto the floor. "Ain't y'all got a maid or something around here?"
"She has the day off," Leslie says. "But at least now you won't have to hit he gym today."
"How about I just hit you?"
"Ladies," Michael says, descending the stairs. "Let's try and calm down, shall we? I have separate rooms ready for Sean and Denise."
"I don't need a separate room from my husband," Denise says.
"He's not your husband," Leslie says, snapping.
"Michael, why can't I sleep with you?" Sean says.
The other three adults shudder at the thought. Michael approaches Sean and pats him on the back.
"Until you can get your memories back, perhaps it's just best for you to be in a room, nice and comfortable and away from constant distractions," Michael says.
"That sounds like a great idea," Leslie says, nodding.
Denise rolls her eyes and goes into the living room, heading for the liquor cabinet. "There she goes with that fake ass bougie smile again."
Michael takes Leslie hand to keep her from following behind Denise and strangling her to death. She takes a deep breath, glances at Sean and smiles, then grabs Denise's suitcase.
"Let's get these bags upstairs," Leslie says. "Shall we?"
MARQUETTE COVE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Blake Thomas finishes signing a release form and leaves it at the nurse's station. He rubs the back of his head, feeling a slight pang as he touches his fresh cut. He hadn't realized how badly he was hurt when Vince shoved him into his dresser until a short while ago.
But it still doesn't hurt as much as remembering Vince's words. Even in his harshest arguments with Chris and Darren, Blake had never experienced such vitriol aimed at him.
And even though Blake knew he hadn't gotten Vince drunk on purpose to take advantage of him, the words still cut deep and made Blake think it was somehow his fault that he had sex with Vince last night. That he was responsible for ruining the relationship he had with his best friend. Practically his only friend, at this point.
As Blake goes to take a seat, he notices Jessica Reyes emerging from a hospital room at the end of the hall. Before he can get her attention, Darren follows her out of the room and Blake chooses to remain silent. He can't let Darren see him like this...he'd be too tempted to spill everything to him.
Still, Blake doesn't look away quickly enough. Darren notices him and makes eye contact. They smile awkwardly at one another and Darren makes a move to approach Blake, but suddenly stops short.
It doesn't take Blake long to realize why Darren changed his mind when he hears a familiar voice behind him.
"Blake, what happened?"
Blake turns around to face Eric Hanley. He'd been seeing Eric on and off for several weeks, but it had been days since they'd last spoken to one another.
"I just hit my head," Blake says. "I'm kinda clumsy."
"Oh," Eric says. "Look, I wanna apologize for not returning your phone calls. This stuff with Vince's dad coming back from the dead, thinking he's my mother...it's been kinda awkward."
Blake nods. "Yeah."
"Anyway, I didn't want to burden you. But I'm really glad to see you now," Eric says, hugging Blake. "How've you been?"
"I've been better," Blake says, laughing.
"Do you want to get lunch or something?" Eric offers. "My treat, for being such a jerk the past week."
"Actually, I..." Blake's voice trails off as he turns around to find Darren. But his ex-boyfriend and Jessica are nowhere in sight. He forces a smile and turns back to Eric. "I think that'd be a great idea. Sure."
MARQUETTE COVE COUNTY PRISON
Matt Holden taps his fingers along the table impatiently as he waits for his mother to be brought into the visitation room. After a few moments lost in his thoughts, he hears the sound of a door opening.
"Matthew," Valerie Holden says, taking a seat across from her son. "It's good to see you."
"Whatever," Matt mumbles. "What did you want?"
"I just wanted to see my son, is that a crime?"
Matt shakes his head. "No, but locking your son up in a mental ward in London for over a year is. In some circles."
"Okay, I deserve that."
"You deserve more," Matt said. "What's the point of this little family reunion? We've done just fine without you, you didn't need to call the house whining about being lonely."
"Alright Matt, can you spare me the sarcasm?"
"You know," Matt says, an evil grin forming on his face. "Dad's been doing a lot better lately."
"That's good."
"Yeah, especially with Felicia there."
Valerie smiles. "So I've heard."
"I mean, they've been getting really close," Matt says, punching up the last words of his sentence for extra emphasis. Driving home the point that soon, Simon may be forgetting about Valerie altogether.
"Your father's still married to me, if that's what you're getting at," Valerie says.
"For now."
"I wouldn't expect you to understand what a real relationship is like. I seem to recall you rather cruelly breaking that Akilah girl's heart."
"Well, who's fault is it if I don't know what a real relationship is like?" Matt shoots back.
"It's ours. For not being there for you."
Matt turns around at the sudden sound of a man's voice. He feels sick to his stomach when he sees Kyle Maddock standing in the doorway.
"But if you'll let me, I'd love to be a part of your life, Matthew," Kyle says.
"What the fuck is this?" Matt says. "Some kind of ambush?"
"Matt, will you just sit down and have a talk with your...your father and I?" Valerie says. "I'm still dealing with how uncomfortable this all is, but it's not going to get any better if "
Matt pushes Kyle out of his way as he makes a beeline for the door. "Screw you both."
HANLEY HOME
Vincent Moore's hand is almost on the front doorknob when his cell phone rings. Hoping it's not Blake calling to harass him some more, he pulls out his cell phone and answers.
"Hello?"
"Vince! What in the hell is going on in Marquette Cove?"
"Sara?" Vince says, recognizing the voice. "What do you mean? How's South Africa?"
"Didn't Akilah tell you that I called?" Sara demands. "Kelli's in trouble, Vince! And she needs your help."
