Marquette Cove Police Department
Nicholas Brennan slammed his fist against his jail cell and angrily paced back
and forth. His parents weren't in their hotel room, and he couldn't reach
his lawyer, Robert Bale, either.
"Let me out of here!" Nicholas shouted. "I didn't do anything wrong!"
No one responded to Nicholas though, and he continued to shout.

"Oh my God," Julia Mitchell gasped, staring at Alec and Jessica kissing.
Hearing Julia in the doorway, the two lovers broke apart and turned to face her.
"Julia," Alec said.
"I'm sorry," Julia said quickly. "I'm...I'm interrupting something. I should leave."
"No, you can't!" Alec cried. "You can't leave!"
"No, I can," Julia said. "And I really, really should."
"We have to talk, Julia," Jessica spoke up.
"No, that's okay," Julia forced a laugh. "Why am I still here?"
"Julia, it's very important that you don't tell anyone what you just saw," Jessica said. "Promise me that
you wont."
Julia sighed.
Love is eternal. Life is forever.
Yet things shall always remain...guasti cose.
Computer Lab
Blake Thomas clicked his mouse a few times and stared at the computer screen. He had been searching for
something useful all period, but he didn't know if he was going to find anything, especially with all of
the locks and limits set on the school computers.
"This is ridiculous," Blake said aloud. "I'm never going to find anything here."
"Then find a library," his brother, Michael Thomas, told him.
"And where would I look? The 'resurrection' section?"
"Stop acting whiney," Thomas sighed. "You have a job to do, and it would be in your best interest to
accomplish it. You owe me that much."
"I know, I'm sorry," Blake apologized. "I'll keep looking."
Blake waited for his brother to respond, but he didn't. Blake turned to see if Thomas was still sitting
next to him, but his brother was no longer there.

"Julia, do you understand?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, I understand perfectly," Julia said. "But I don't see why you want to keep this a secret. I mean,
if you two are dating, then that's great. Isn't it?"
"It is?" Alec's eyes widened.
"Well, why wouldn't it be?"
"Yes, why wouldn't it be?" Jessica demanded.
"You know what I mean," Alec insisted. "We can't let anyone know about us. If Vince found out, he
would freak."
"Vince doesn't know about you two?" Julia asked.
"Yes, try to keep up," Alec said.
Jessica shot Alec an angry look.
"Sorry," Alec apologized. "It's just that...Vince doesn't know about us, and he doesn't need to know.
Not yet anyway."
"Can we trust you to keep this a secret?" Jessica asked, moving closer to Julia. "It's really important."
"Sure," Julia said. "But I don't see what the big deal is about telling Vince. He already has a girlfriend."
Marquette Cove Police Department
Nicholas opened his eyes and stared ahead at the bars in his jail cell. He had now come to the
realization that he was going to be stuck in there for at least another twenty-four hours.
"But I didn't do anything," Nicholas whispered to himself. "I loved Alicia...why would I...why would I kill
her? Did I kill her?"
"Yes, you did."
Nicholas turned and saw someone sitting next to him. The person was someone Nicholas hadn't
seen in quite some time, but they were familiar to him. Nicholas just couldn't remember their name.
"I know you," Nicholas said.
"Yes, you do."
"Are you...how did you get in here?"
"That's not important."
"Are you here to help me?"
"Yes, I am."
Nicholas smiled. The stranger didn't.

"Vince does have a girlfriend," Alec said. "But Jessica is his ex."
"Is that some sort of stupid guy code?" Julia asked. "Because I really don't "
"Julia!" Alec snapped. "Can we trust you or not?"
"Stop yelling me at," Julia said, folding her arms. "And yes, you can trust me."
"Good. Now leave."
Jessica gave Alec another dirty look, while Julia rolled her eyes at him.
"No, I didn't mean it...actually, I did sort of mean it that way," Alec admitted.
"Fine, I'm going," Julia said. "I have to find Akilah anyway. She didn't happen to...no, of course she
didn't."
Alec and Jessica stared at Julia blankly.
"I'll be going now," Julia said, leaving the room.
"That was close," Alec said, exhaling.
"Too close," Jessica said. "We should just come out and tell Vince the truth. It's not like we're
getting back together. Getting back together is the furthest thing from both of our minds."
"Yeah..." Alec intoned softly. "...the furthest thing."
Emerald Bridge
Blake Thomas stared at the people surrounding him. Each of them friends of his at some point in time.
But he was no longer friends with any of these people he couldn't be.
"We are now done with him."
Blake felt himself begin to choke, and then everything went black.
Marquette Cove High School
Blake's eyes flew open as he jolted awake and sat up in his chair. He had fallen asleep in the computer
lab, still searching for something to aid him in the resurrection of his brother.
Blake was perfectly aware of what the process would entail, but it didn't matter. He owed it to Thomas.
"I promised I would bring you back," Blake whispered.
"And you will."
Blake turned his head and saw his brother sitting next to him. Blake opened his mouth to respond, but
before he could, Thomas drew a knife from his pocket and shoved it into Blake's stomach.
Marquette Cove Police Department
Nicholas's eyes rolled back in his head as he collapsed onto the floor, clutching his chest. The blood
from the stab wound in his stomach dripped from his body, formulating a pool around his torso.
As Nicholas faded in and out of consciousness, he could not hear the sound of people rushing to his
rescue. Still it made no difference, as no one did.
