Marquette Cove High School
Alec Bale opened the door to the stage crew workroom and walked inside. A few of the props he was
working on for West Side Story were lying around the room, waiting to be finished.
Standing in the corner was his girlfriend, Jessica Reyes.
"Miss Reyes."
Jessica Reyes turned around and smiled.
"Mr. Bale," She responded.
"Fancy running into you down here," Alec continued, moving closer to her.
"Fancy indeed."
Alec ran his fingers through Jessica's hair and placed a few strands behind her ear.
"You're so beautiful," Alec told her.
He leaned in to give Jessica a kiss. She didn't resist.
Love is eternal. Life is forever.
Yet things shall always remain...guasti cose.
Hallway
"We're late," Julia Mitchell announced.
"I know that," Akilah Moore responded.
"This is all your fault."
"Like you've never been late before."
"I don't like getting admit slips from that woman in the office," Julia said. "Her eyes are creepy."
Akilah sighed and shook her head. "I'll see you later."
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to see if Alec is in the library," Akilah replied, starting down the hallway.
"But we have to go to class!"
"I'm free this period," Akilah reminded Julia.
"Yeah, free of sanity," Julia muttered, heading towards the office.
Michael Hanley's Office
Michael Hanley adjusted a stack of papers on his desk and checked his watch. It was almost time
for homeroom to start, and he had a class to supervise.
As he gathered everything he needed for the next period, the door to Michael's office flung open.
Michael glanced up and saw his nephew, Matt Holden standing in the doorway.
"I'm going to have to start locking that, aren't I?"
"Oh, stop complaining," Matt said. "I've got good news."
"You have a terminal disease?"
Matt rolled his eyes. "No. I've got something to use on Vince."
At the mention of Vince, Michael became slightly more interested. "And what would that be?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Matthew, I really don't care," Michael sighed. "But obviously you do, so come out with it before I lose
even more interest in what you have to say."
Before Matt could speak, the bell rang, signaling that second period was now over.
"I'm sorry, but I have a homeroom to moderate," Michael said, standing up. "Actually, noI'm not."
Michael picked up his briefcase and exited the room.
"Lock the door when you leave," Michael called back to Matt.
Classroom
Kelli Anderson slid into her chair, which was next to one of her best friends, Chris Server. They were
both in the Yearbook Homeroom, and they had been for the past year.
"Hey Chris," Kelli said.
"Hey Kel," Chris replied. "Where you during first period?"
"At the cemetery."
Chris's eyes widened. "Who died?"
"Michael Thomas," Kelli answered.
Chris nodded. "Oh."
A few moments later, he had a confused look on his face. "Again?"
"No, Blake was visiting his brother," Kelli explained.
"Yeah, because that makes sense," Chris laughed. "Sorry, I haven't been all there today."
"Just today?" Kelli teased.
Chris narrowed his eyes at Kelli, bursting into laughter a few seconds later.

"Go away!" Vincent Moore snapped.
"I can't do that," Antonio insisted, following Vince to his homeroom. "Your life depends on it."
"No, it really doesn't," Vince said. "And also? Get a new phrase! You've been saying that to me for
the past...morning."
"You may not want to hear this, but you need to," Antonio said. "The fate of Marquette Cove
depends on --"
"Blah blah blah," Vince said, cutting Atonio off. "God, do you ever shut up?"
Library
Having no luck finding Akilah, Julia stopped to ask someone if they had seen her.
"Excuse me, do you know who Akilah Moore is?" Julia asked.
"Yeah, she was just in here."
"Did she leave?"
"A couple of minutes ago."
"Thank you," Julia said.
She started walking towards the library exit, wondering where Akilah was.
"She's probably downstairs in the workroom," Julia realized. "Whever Alec goes..."
Classroom
Michael walked into the Yearbook Homeroom and placed his briefcase on the table in the front of the room.
"Your moderator, Mr. Collins, is sick today," Michael announced to the classroom. "So I will be moderating
today. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Otherwise, please continue with your work."
As Michael prepared to sit down, he noticed Vince walking in the hallway. Michael excused himself from the
classroom and stepped outside.
Hallway
"You can't allow Blake to go through with his plan," Antonio said.
"What plan?" Vince demanded. "What the hell are you --"
"Vincent."
Vince turned to see Michael Hanley, the Dean of Students, standing behind him.
"Mr. Hanley," Vince said.
"Who were you talking to?"
Vince glanced around the hallway, momentarily forgetting that he was to only one who could see Antonio.
"No one," Vince responded. "I mean...myself. No one, as in myself. Just me."
Michael nodded.
"Vincent, I need to speak with you later. Do you have any free periods?"
"Uh, sixth," Vince said.
"Could you stop by my office?"
"Sure," Vince replied. "What for?"
"We'll talk about that later," Michael said, walking back into the Yearbook Homeroom.
"I don't trust him," Antonio said. "He's hiding something from y "
Vince sighed. "I thought I told you to shut up?"
Stage Crew Workroom
"Has anyone ever told you that you're a really good kisser?" Alec asked Jessica.
"I could ask you the same," Jessica said.
"How about we just stop talking all together?" Alec suggested.
"Fine with me."
Jessica pulled Alec into another kiss.
Julia walked through the basement, searching for the stage crew workroom. It had been a while since
she had last been down there, so she didn't exactly remember where it was.
When she found the room, she checked the door to see if it was locked. When she discovered that it
wasn't, Julia turned the knob and pushed open the door.
