"Did you hear that?" Kane asks.
Kyle turns to Kane. "Oh, yes... yes, I did. I suppose we should go in and check what's wrong?"
Kane groans. "I was hoping that Aaron might be dead."
Kyle shrugs. "What do you know? Me too."
"That's because you're a little bit evil," Kane says, leading the way into the church.
As the two men enter, they find Aaron Maddock in the church vestibule, standing damn-near petrified in front of a cherub statue. He is startled as Kyle pokes him in the arm.
"Kyle... Kane... did you two... did you..." Aaron stares vigorously at his right palm, as if he's attempting to will something there that isn't. "The blood?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Kane demands.
"I think you're taking the pre-wedding jitters to a whole other level," Kyle agrees. "Let's go on in and talk to Father Ruiz. He already thinks this family of ours is crazy enough, let's not give him any more ammo."
As he watches the people who could have been his family head into the main area of the church, Tyler Rogers takes a deep breath. He is careful not to alert anyone to his presence as he hides in the corner of the church, waiting for the wedding to begin.
He hates this sneaking around. It's something his father did often, and so it makes him sick to his stomach to be forced to resort to the same thing. But it is something he has to do if he's going to make sure everyone in Marquette Cove knows the truth about Aaron Maddock.
He's a monster and he needs to be destroyed.
"Soon, everyone will know what kind of man you really are," Tyler whispers.
He never wanted to come back to the mansion, but with Farrah striking out on their plans to skip town and Billy accidentally hitting Alexis and leaving her for dead... he is out of options. And so he has been driven to this. Breaking into Aaron's mansion so he can secure enough money for him and Farrah to leave Marquette Cove.
Billy reaches inside and unlocks the French doors, then goes upstairs and into Aaron's bedroom. He rifles through Aaron's desk, searching for anything that has to do with his banking accounts. He hits paydirt when he finds a recent letter from Wells Fargo.
It's a letter informing Aaron of his new PIN number.
"Perfect," Billy says, shoving the letter into his pocket. "Now all I need is Aaron's ATM card, and I'll be in the clear."
Before he closes the drawer, he notices something else in the corner. Something Aaron owns for protection. Something that Billy will be able to use to further his plans...
A gun.
He grabs the gun and raises it into the air, smiling a wicked grin. "Good night, Aaron. Forever."
PRISON DE PARIS
PARIS, FRANCE
"What do you mean Francois' wife went missing?" Vanessa Watson demands, glaring at her brother-in-law Marcus Vicman.
"Like I said, I never heard from her again," Marcus insists, darting his eyes back and forth between Vanessa and Sean Moore. "It's like she dropped off the face of the earth. Even if I wanted to use her as my alibi... she was nowhere to be found."
"So what's the deal with Francois?" Sean asks. "How was he your alibi?"
"He found us that night," Marcus says. "In his apartment. We thought he was away on business, but he came home early."
Vanessa soaks this in, then turns to Sean. "Do you think that she could be responsible for what happened to Nikki?"
"Either that, or Francois killed them both," Sean says.
"No," Marcus snaps. "He wouldn't... he would never kill her."
"How do you know that?" Vanessa demands. "He lied to us when we went to see him."
"I don't think that..."
The guard enters the room, drawing everyone's eyes to him. "You have another visitor."
"Another visitor?" Marcus says, utterly bewildered. "Who?"
"Maybe it's Francois," Vanessa whispers.
But as they focus their attention on the door, they are each surprised by the man who enters. And he in turn seems surprised as well... surprised to find Vanessa and Sean sitting before him. "What the hell are you two doing here?" he demands.
"What are we doing here?" Vanessa says, ballooning toward the door. "What are you doing here, Ryan?!"
MARQUETTE COVE FREE CLINIC
Simon Holden steps into the clinic, feeling slightly uncomfortable dressed in a suit as he walks through the bay of people waiting for a myriad of test results and other medical procedures. Hopefully there will be a new hospital in Marquette Cove soon enough, one that won't make the town seem like it's operating within a third world country.
"There you are, Dr. Holden," Kristin says, meeting Simon outside his office door. "I have the test results I wanted you to see. They're in your office."
"Let's make this quick, I have a wedding to get to," Simon says, following her inside. "What's going on? Why is... why is Felicia's file on the table?"
"I know you wanted me to flag everyone who might experience some side-effects from the space rock or whatever that landed on the hospital," Kristin says. "And I found that Felicia Bale has a blood-marker that matches someone we should watch."
Simon exhales deeply. "Oh, that's it?"
"What do you mean that's it?" Kristin asks.
"I guess you didn't get the memo. NASA cleared everyone with that specific blood-marker," Simon says. "If it were genetic from the mother's side, it would completely switch someone's blood type. But when it's genetic from the father, it only shows up as this blood-marker. It was a very long e-mail that I don't feel like recapping at the moment, but long story short, the marker is nothing specific. It's just means that someone is descended from a specific region of the country."
Kristin nods. "Oh, that's good. And a good thing it was only Felicia, huh? We didn't have to worry anyone else."
"You didn't contact her, did you?" Simon asks.
"I did, but she was busy with the wedding I think, so I didn't want to leave her a message," Kristin says. "So no harm, no foul."
"Yes... I think that's probably..." Simon stops short for a moment. "I'm sorry, did you say that Felicia was the only one who showed up with this marker?"
"Yeah, but that makes sense. Her kids died in the hospital disaster, and her ex-husband wouldn't have the same marker as her."
"No, true," Simon says. "But if the marker is genetic from the father... then that means you should have had more than one... can I see Michael Hanley's file?"
"Of course," Kristin says, turning away from Simon quickly enough to hide her smirk as she snatches up Michael's file. Simon doesn't even notice that she already has it at the ready. "Here you go."
"I think you made a mistake with..." Simon stops again once he takes a look at Michael's file. He sets it down on the table and then picks up Felicia's again. "Oh my God."
"What's wrong?" Kristin demands.
"If these test results are correct, Kristin... then Felicia isn't related to Michael. She's not a Hanley."
