MARQUETTE COVE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
AARON MADDOCK'S OFFICE
Aaron Maddock shuts off his tape recorder and rises from his desk, smiling at the patient resting on the couch before him. He crosses around the table and sits in the chair next to Blake Thomas, extending a hand to touch his knee.
"Are you okay?" Aaron asks.
"I'm good," Blake says, wiping a tear from his face. "It just hurts to talk about...talk about Thomas. He should be graduating from high school like me."
"It's okay to think about people who've passed. I still think about Erin all the time."
"I think it's just everything going on with Jack and Darren," Blake insists. "I'm looking forward to college and everything. I need a change."
"So, same time next week?"
"Actually...I'm not quite sure," Blake says. "I don't really feel comfortable letting the Andersons foot the bill for therapy sessions. I'm living with them, but I don't "
"I'm sure we could work something out," Aaron says, tightening his grip on Blake's knee.
Uncomfortable, Blake slides away from Aaron. "I don't..."
"Oh God, I'm so sorry," Aaron says quickly. "I didn't mean to...I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," Blake says. "I should...I should go."

THE PRESENT
Akilah Moore can't have seen what she just saw.
Blake and Aaron kissing.
Blake is...well, he's not exactly dating Darren now, but Aaron is straight. And old. It's the grossest thing she's ever seen.
"Akilah," Aaron says, crawling toward her. "Are you okay?"
"I...I think I hit my head," Akilah says. "I'm delirious."
"I was giving Blake mouth-to-mouth, to revive him," Aaron says, turning back to Blake. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Blake says softly. "We should get out of here. What happened?"
Akilah climbs to her feet. "Fuck if I know. But I tell you one thing, I am so quitting this job."
As Akilah helps Blake stand up, Aaron rises behind them. He watches Akilah with a grimace on his face, then cautiously follows them to the door.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Aaron repeats.
"I'm fine," Akilah snaps. "I'm just...fine."
"Space rock," Vince muttered.
"Huh?" Matt frowns. "My father...he's in the hospital. Have you heard?"
"No, not yet," Robert says, approaching Matt. "He's still inside with Felicia, and Alec."
"And my mother," Vince says, pacing back and forth. "I need to get inside."
"Vincent, you need to stay right here," Robert insists. "The three of us can wait until we get some news."
Matt folds his arms and stares at the charred, smoky hospital. "My dad? I just got him back. He's in there...he can't be dead. My dad and...oh God."
Covering his mouth in horror, Matt feels his stomach turning into knots. He spins away from the police tape and nearly stumbles forward.
"Matt, what the hell is wrong with you?" Vince demands.
"Akilah's inside," Matt cries. "She was filming today. With Blake."
Vince's eyes go wide. "My sister?"
Matt nods slowly.
"I have to get inside," Vince says, attempting to push past Robert.
"Vince! Calm down!" Robert says. "Let those people inside do their jobs! They'll get your sister out!"
"But I have to go," Vince snaps. "I need to "
Robert grabs Vince by his arms and stares directly into his eyes. "Your mother would kill me if I let you go into that hospital. And what's more, I would never be able to forgive myself."
THE MORGUE
Kyle Maddock stands amongst the devastated morgue, searching for the body he hid amongst the other deceased. The hospital's electricity is off, which means that his secret is dangerously close to defrosting and ruining all of his secrets.
He opens one of the small metal doors and slides a cold, frozen body that looks much like his own. Well, not all of the body. Just the face. The face of Kyle Maddock.
Most of the story he told was true enough. Kyle was whisked away by Kevin Hanley years ago, but not to be locked away in a hospital. Kevin told Kyle that he'd slept with his sister. Disgusted and horrified, Kyle accepted money from Kevin to skip town.
His death was faked. He was never told of the pregnancy, of the son that he had with Valerie, his half-sister.
When Elan found Kyle working in Peapack, New Jersey, he fell in love with him. They worked in the same office. He never knew Elan existed, and the night he was going to tell Kyle the truth...he was mowed down by those ill-driving Asians.
"It's okay, honey," Kyle whispers, leaning over to kiss the dead body on the forehead. "They believed me when I said I was you. The plastic surgery on my face was enough, no one had seen you for years. They'd never know the truth."
Kyle was horrified that he had to rip the tongue out of the body and stick it into his own mouth when he was swabbed by Dr. Anderson for a DNA test, but it did the trick. He passed the DNA test with flying colors.
So for all intents and purposes, Elan Spanjer was dead. He was now Kyle Maddock. Now and forever, he was his one true love.

HALLWAY OUTSIDE THE MORGUE
"Alexis, what the hell are you talking about?" Damon Johnson says, hissing into his cell phone. "How am I going to get you a pregnany test?"
"I don't know," Alexis Lopez says, her voice ringing in Damon's ear. "Can't you find one at the hospital for me?"
"No, I can't," Damon snaps. "I working in the freaking morgue. Why don't you dig one out of the trash can."
"That's gross."
"Wait a second...are you in the hospital? Why are you here? And why do you need a pregnancy test?"
"I'll explain everything in a..."
"No, you'll explain everything now," Damon insists. "I'm in the morgue. Come downstairs."
"Not "
"Alexis!"
"Fine, I'll meet you! I have to go."
As the other line goes dead, Damon rolls his eyes and shuts off his phone. He shoves it into his pocket and heads toward the morgue entrance. He pulls open the door and stops dead in his tracks, surprised at who's standing amidst the row of lockers holding deceased bodies.
"What the hell are you doing?" Damon demands.
Blake Thomas spins around, with a veritable cat caught eating the canary look on his face.
"Damon," Blake says softly. "I...I came to see you."
MARQUETTE COVE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
THE PRESENT
Damon stares at Blake as he disappears out of the hospital with Akilah and Aaron in tow. He angrily slams his fists against the wall, still surprised at the fact that his form is corporeal.
Of course, not too many people would expect to be in any type of form after their throat was slashed open in a hospital morgue.
"Blake," Damon mutters, nearly tasting the hatred on his lips.
When he died...instead of seeing his life flash before his eyes, he was given something else. He was given the opportunity. To come back from hell itself to get revenge against Blake Thomas.
What has seemed like only a short time in the after life has been several years here on Earth. And when Damon returned...he had other motives. He first wanted to torture Chris Server, to use him to destroy Blake.
But now he sees that he will have to take on another tactic. He can't use Chris. He's dead now. He's an unholy thing, just like Damon.
Damon does know that Blake cares for Chris, though. And he'll use that against him when he systematically destroys Blake's life.
He could have killed him now. Here in the hospital.
But what would be the fun in that?
Blake danced with Damon's lifeless body as he used his heart to bring his bastard brother back to life. And so Damon will dance upon Blake's grave. And soon enough...his body and everyone he cares about will be resting inside it.
He crouches down to the floor and slaps an unconscious Darren Reynolds across the face. "Come on, Darren. Time to wake up."
OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL
Felicia Bale coughs loudly as she led by an EMT past the police perimeter, with Simon Holden right behind her. She first notices Robert standing next to Matt, and despite everything that transpired between them earlier in the day, she is grateful to see him.
"Robert," Felicia says, embracing him. "Have you...have you seen Alec?"
"No," Robert says. "Are you two okay?"
"We're fine," Simon says. "But we lost Darren, he's somewhere in the hospital with Jessica."
"Then maybe we can shove Vince in there and get rid of that entire nauseating love triangle," Matt says, rolling his eyes.
Simon hits his son in the head, then smiles, pulling him into a hug. Hearing his son making a crass joke amidst all of this disaster is enough to make him burst into tears of joy.
"Leslie is in there," Robert says. "Vince is going out of his..."
"I don't see Vince," Felicia says, glancing around. "Where is he?"
"He's just right..." Robert's voice trails off as he realizes that Felicia is correct, and Vince is nowhere in sight. Which means that he slipped away from them and is probably finding some way inside the hospital. "Dammit, Vince!"
