STERKFONTEIN CAVES
Leslie Hanley breaks away from Quentin Blood, turning to face her husband, Michael Hanley. The tears in her eyes cause him great concern as he rushes toward her.
"Leslie! Are you okay?" Michael cries.
"I'm...I'm fine," Leslie says. "How much did you hear?"
"Hear?" Michael says. "Hear what? What has this man done to you?"
"I am her father," Quentin intones.
"Well pardon me for not asking for her hand in marriage," Michael says, pulling Leslie away from Quentin. "We need to get the hell out of here. That Chris boy is dead. And we have Akilah now, no doubt she'll need months even years of therapy after this entire ordeal..."
"You're not going anywhere. Neither of you. There must be a new ceremony."
"I am not getting married," Leslie snaps.
"You are already married, I see that," Quentin says. "I shall make you both vampires."
"Hey grandpa!"
Quentin spins around, coming face-to-face with his grandson, Vincent Moore. Vincent holds the large slab of wood used to slay Chris in his hands and tries slamming it into Quentin's chest.
Quentin swats the wood away, grabbing Vince's neck. "That's not playing nice." He throws Vince into the wall. In an instant, Quentin is on Vince, preparing to sink his fangs into him. "Let's just make this a family affair!"
As Vince struggles to break free from Quentin's grasp, he concentrates on the slab of wood. But he's unable to break free, and when Quentin bites him, he loses his concentration.
The wobbling piece of wood tumbles to the ground. Vince resigns himself to a horrible fate...hoping that at least his mother and sister will be able to save themselves and then...
...the biting stops.
Quentin slumps to the ground, the large slab of wood now lodged in the back. His body is limp, unmoving.
"You killed him," Vince gasps, sitting up and leaning against the cavern wall.
"You killed your father," Michael says.
"He was already dead to me," Leslie says, helping Vince climb to his feet. "But I think I might be a vegetarian now."
BACK CAVERN
"Are you...are you sure?" Felicia Bale says, clutching her son as tears slide down both of their faces. "She's really..."
"She's dead," Julia Mitchell says. "Chris killed her, and I wasn't able to...I wasn't able to stop him."
"I'm glad that monster is dead, then."
"It's not his fault," Akilah Moore says, finally coming out of her daze. "There's...there was something in him. Controlling him. The same evil I'd felt inside me for months since Quentin had me kidnapped."
"Are you okay?" Matt Holden asks, holding Akilah in his arms. "You fell...but I..."
"You caught me..." Akilah says, falling back into unconsciousness.
"What the hell is this?"
Matt rolls his eyes. "Vince is still alive. How disappointing."
Vince crouches next to Matt and Akilah, running his fingers through his sister's hair. He smiles at her, then looks up at Matt. "Don't try to use this to start dating my sister again."
Michael and Leslie follow into the entrance. She picks up a candle from the wall and turns back toward the back of the cavern.
"I have to say one last goodbye to my father," Leslie says, staring intensely at the flame. "Then we're all getting the hell out of here."
ANDERSON HOME
Tina Anderson lets out a silent cry as she throws a plate into the kitchen sink. Cyrus Anderson enters the kitchen behind her, wrapping his arms around his wife. "Are you okay, honey?"
"I just had a thought about Morris is all," Tina says. "I wish we would hear from him...but it's been almost a year, I don't think we will."
"I'm sorry, honey," Cyrus says. "Maybe you'd feel better if you called Kelli and spoke to her?"
Tina nods. "That sounds like a good idea. I should..."
She stops speaking when the kitchen door opens. They both turn to find Blake Thomas entering. Tina smiles and quickly wipes the tears from her face. "Hello, Blake."
"Hey, what's up?" Blake says.
"Just some nostalgia," Tina insists.
The phone rings before Blake can say anything. Cyrus goes to the phone on the wall near the sink, picking it up. "Hello? Oh, Leslie, how are you? South Africa? What on Earth are you...oh lord..."
Hearing what Leslie has to say causes Cyrus to drop the phone from his hands. He turns to Blake and then finally, to Tina. He can barely look her in the eyes.
"Cyrus, what is it?" Tina says, realizing what's wrong in her heart before he even speaks. "Cyrus! You tell me what's wrong!"
Cyrus goes to Tina and embraces her again, attempting to fight back tears of his own. Blake slowly walks toward the wall, picking up the phone. He barely knows what to stay. All he's able to say is... "It's Blake."
BALE HOME
Robert Bale lies in his bed, surrounded by food wrappers and beer cans. He sits ups, hearing the phone ringing.
"Who's that..." Robert groans, searching for the phone.
He can't distinguish whether or not it's his cell phone or his home phone ringing. He throws the cans and wrappers onto the floor, scouring his bed for the ringing contraption.
Robert finally finds the phone at the edge of his bed. He almost feels the need to reach for it, but he instead groggily groans and collapses back onto the bed.

LANDING BASE
Felicia hangs up the phone and rejoins her son, neglecting to tell him who she just called. Having already spoken to Blake on Leslie's phone, she knows that he will tell Darren the news in person about Sara.
And even throughout this horrible event, Felicia feels somewhat closer to Alec and for that, she is eternally grateful.
"Vincent, are you all ready?" Leslie asks, walking with Michael toward her own son and the rest of his friends.
"Yeah, Dad wasn't at home," Vince says. "Not that...not that he really knows or cares who we are."
"I know, honey," Leslie says, hugging him. "But don't worry, your father will come back to us soon. Just like your sister did."
Vince smiles, looking at his sister as Matt helps her onto one of the Hanley jets. Julia follows behind them, and then he watches as the procession of bodies begins. They are all carried onto the second Hanley jet...Kelli, then Sara, and last...Chris.
Julia and Akilah were adamant that Chris hadn't been in control of his actions and decided that it was necessary to bring his body back, implicating only Quentin is the deaths of Kelli and Sara. It was his fault after all.
Vince's grandfather. It felt awful thinking of that, but now, it all made sense. The abilities that came to him when he was around Quentin...his ability to deal with Antonio and Zaliphyr in the past. All a part of his lineage.
Michael follows them last, watching as Leslie is overjoyed by reuniting with her son and daughter. He is also fearful of losing her once they return home...losing her to that man she still considers her husband, even though she hasn't been fully honest with him.
But now that Michael knows the truth...all it will take is one simple test. He must determine whether Vince or Akilah belongs to Sean, and which one doesn't.
And it is with that knowledge that he will keep Leslie as his own. Forever.
